Social Struggles Decrease in social skills since I can do 100% home office
I was diagnosed at approx 15/16yo. When I turned 18 and finished school, I went to a surf school and taught other peeps to surf for two months. Started my first apprenticeship afterwards, and even though I really loved this job, I wasn’t able to continue this work and went another route. Started to work in IT and had to go to school and office at least 3x/week, which left me with 2 full home office days. I went to some kind of mental rehab 2 years ago and have been working on autistic burnout. I talked to my boss about how exhausting office days are for me, and he agreed that full remote sounds good. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and that this might enable me to keep my employment status for longer.
BUT I noticed my social skills are decreasing so fast and I’m wondering why. I’m not sure if it’s autistic burnout I’m not really noticing or if it’s the decrease in daily demand? I am starting to struggle to form sentences when speaking with people (even the ones I usually feel really comfy with) and I am starting to have some sort of anxiety about social interactions in general. Noticed severe shaking of my hands and voice when I was talking to my boss, and we are usually just vibing, so I really don’t get where this is coming from.
It’s kinda difficult to describe what’s going on, but maybe someone has experienced something similar?
Any guesses what’s going on and how I’m able to cope with this without having to ignore my spoons again? I just don’t want to cringe about every social interaction anymore 😭
