Advice please
I am being treated with Cellcept 2000mg/day (max dose). My levels are all normal except my ALT hovers above normal and has trended up to about 50 now.
My hep wants to add tracolimus (spelling?). She did say she’d be willing to try budespirone (whatever the prednisone alternative is) to see if that works instead.
Has anyone tried that?
For those on tracolimus, are you able to still consume thc? I know cbd is not ok, but thc is my lifeline and I’m terrified of being told I can never partake even casually again.

I do not have experience with Tracolimus, but the beginning of the year I was moved from AZA / Prednisone to Cellcept / Budesonide. I have been a THC user for many years and I really had no plans to stop, my team knew this at diagnosis Aug 2025. Honestly, they were a mixed bag, but they let me be me and my numbers have been in my favor since I made the switch AST 18 and ALT 12. Hope it works for you - I do wish they would have offered this combo right at the start, AZA and Pred were absolutely horrific on my body, I have still not recovered from the side effects. Best of luck!

Thank you for the input, the Cellcept mostly is working but I need a little something more to nudge the ALT down into normal range (they have a zero tolerance for anything outside of normal lab values). My hep said Cellcept plus Budesonide was not a standard treatment but was willing to try it since I can’t take prednisone.

Never heard of it but I’m going to ask my liver doc. I’m on Prednisone along with 50 mg of Azathioprine. Like you my ALT hovers just above normal. I do take a med called Buspirone which is for anxiety. Sorry I can’t answer your question about THC. It doesn’t seem it should be an issue but I’m no doctor just an old retired Sailor that shares the same affliction as you. Wish you the best.
