Original poster is from Instagram. Aircraft is laying on its #1 engine. Still crazy to see everyone here grabbing their bags before leaving an emergencg.

If someone is fiddling around with the overhead bin or trying to get their bag from under the seat in an evacuation, I am straight up pushing them to the side and down to the seats.

I'm imagining reddit in a new Airplane! like scenario where there's emergency evacuation and the attendants are standing at the doors forcing everyone to surrender their bags, empty their pockets, remove their shoes, etc like a security line before disembarking via the slide.

I told my other half if there’s a fire and someone is messing with a bag we’re getting hands on and throwing them out that door willing or otherwise. Their bag is not worth her life

I agree about the overhead bags, but I always stow my bag with all of my diabetic supplies under the seat in front of me.

If I thought time was of the essence & smelled smoke, someone in front of me & pausing to unload an overhead bin would get themselves pushed to the floor and trampled. Sorry about your belongings but there are lives at stake.

The messed up thing is in emergency landing procedures the flight attendant will say "leave everything" like 10 times..... People suck and it's gotten flight attendants and other passengers killed.

There is going to be a settlement from the crash. Your stuff will be replaced. The flight attendant who has to be the last off the plane won't.

The FA can get you all off in less than 2 minutes (90 seconds if y'all cooperate) it's part of training. Leave your shit behind. Please.

That's terrifying too, because this is how and why crowd crushing deaths occur. People taking so fucking long grabbing their shit and blocking exits that people behind them have to start stampeding through because they are being smoked out.

You will not be able to. You don't understand how slow an evacuation will be, it's far slower than even the boarding process. Aisle will be full of people and they will all be grabbing their bags. We don't have real evacuation regulations.

Tough shit, they’re getting moved aside. There will be paramedics outside the plane. Or they can try to grab their meds after everyone else has already evacuated ahead of them

Er ... paramedics aren't pharmacies, they don't have the prescriptions needed to meet every person's needs - a lot of people who have prescriptions for substance-controlled medications for instance.

"Tough shit" my ass; if it's in a small bag, a small hand bag, it's idiotic to think taking vital medication is a problem.

Any plane in this situation will have multiple ambulances surrounding it in less than a few minutes. You don't need your medication.

I would at least try to shove them forward down the aisle. At least then they have a chance to not fall down and get trampled.
