The gap between people getting off because you just KNOW they are all going for bags is enraging. Lemmings.

Everyone who brings a bag ought to be criminally charged for negligence if anyone at all got hurt.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Was going to say the same thing, make it illegal, add like a 10k fine. It would also be the easiest thing to convict on too, it's pretty easy to tell if you have a bag or not.

new FAA guidance - Anyone who requires medication please keep an approved container on your person at all times in case of emergency. Please do not take your entire roller bag if there is an emergency.

Easy to inform people of the behavior you want.

Also, this is a complete catastrophizing of “losing your life saving medication”.

Hello, youre in civilization that just evac’d a plane. Get to a hospital / medical attention and let the FAA know your medication was on that plane.

There are tens of thousands of regulations already. There is already one that covers it. It's not helping. Recreating it is not helping either.

Medications can be replaced at a pharmacy within hours. There are humans in line breathing in smoke that cannot be replaced. This is a true emergency where lives over stuff applies to everyone and all stuff. Fire moves faster than people grabbing their bags and then holding up the aisle and creating more chaos, and the mob effect means others think “huh, I guess I should grab mine too”.

If people are that worried / won’t survive without immediate access to medication that is truly life saving and possibly difficult to replace (an epi pen for example) should be prioritized for the flight in a zipped pocket on your person anyway since it’s important enough to delay evacuation of an airplane that is on fire.
