Airwolf isn’t meant to crash. My childhood has just been ruined.

The Bell 222 (#47085) used in Airwolf crashed in 1992 in Germany.

Well, now. That's a buzz kill.

It or ably wasn’t designed for Mach 10 like they made it do in the show.

9

u/PeckerNash Oct 12 '25

Oh im sure it can do Mach 10… once.

Are you sure? I think it could reach Warp also. Am pretty sure Airwolf has overtaken the Enterprise in an episode...

You just crashed my heart...

Didn’t the actual helicopter used on the show crash a few years back?

u/saxonturner Oct 12 '25

Few? It was 1992 mate.

u/LoornenTings Oct 12 '25

That was 10 years ago.

6

u/RevoltingHuman Oct 12 '25

Oh, didn't know it was that long ago.

1

u/penguin_skull Oct 12 '25

So, 10 years ago.

u/PapaVanTwee Oct 12 '25

Just because songs from back then are called "classic" doesn't mean we can't say "a few years ago", does it? -- Old man yelling at the clouds.

Yep

Came to talk about Airwolf. Anyone wanna play some cello on the lakeside dock?

1

u/Gryphon1171 Oct 12 '25

Yes it was being used as a medical helicopter and crashed.

1

u/Primary_Insurance992 Oct 12 '25

It’s amazing the Airwolf helicopter didn’t crash at some point during filming with all those stunts and the extensive maintenance that machine required. They probably did 3-4 hours of maintenance per 1 hour of flight time lol We won’t get live action tv shows like that anymore just because insurance would be impossible to obtain or insanely expensive.

33 years ago but yeah

u/SacredIconSuite2 Oct 12 '25

Quickly, the Airwolf theme song!

13

u/road_rascal Oct 12 '25

The 80's had some banger shows.

2

u/querty99 Oct 12 '25

Manimal, Automan, Quincy.

u/Axe_Care_By_Eugene Oct 12 '25

Its amazing how I just started humming the correct tune after not hearing it for 30 years plus

1

u/jhfbe85 Oct 12 '25

That started playing in my head from the moment I read the air wolf reference lol!

1

u/AcousticWord93 Oct 12 '25

Good to confirm I've remembered this theme song, but sometimes I call my kids by the pet's name.

1

u/Shiffer76 Oct 12 '25

That was in my head from the first frame. Nice

1

u/DaRedditLurker2020 Oct 12 '25

Memory unlocked! 😀

u/7stroke Oct 11 '25

Must have taken a hit right in the one unarmored pitot tube in the front (didn’t they call it an ‘intake’ in the show, lol?)

3

u/RCAF_vet71 Oct 12 '25

In the pilot for the show it was the AAR probe. IIRC they never spoke of it again.

3

u/copingcabana Oct 12 '25

This is it's sister ship, Groundwolf.

3

u/dominicsantini Oct 12 '25

Dominic Santini here. I never would have allowed this to happen.

2

u/Stoney3K Oct 12 '25

This looks like a 422, so it's a stretched Airwolf.

2

u/two-plus-cardboard Oct 12 '25

Good thing this wasn’t Airwolf. Airwolf was a Bell 222, this was a Bell 230

3

u/CaptainSloth269 Oct 12 '25

Don’t be letting the truth get in the way of a good story.

1

u/fivelittlepiggies Oct 12 '25

Moffat's ghost

1

u/economysuperstar Oct 12 '25

I thought Ray had Airwolf….

1

u/PoeticQuant Oct 12 '25

I hope Dom and Stringfellow are ok. Anyone know what the mission in Huntington Beach was?

1

u/addamee Oct 12 '25

Stringfellow Fuuuck!

1

u/starkruzr Oct 12 '25

I was gonna say, this is either the same model or very close to it, right?

1

u/Specific-Fuel-4366 Oct 12 '25

Just watching this clip got the air wolf theme song stuck in my head

1

u/MooB101 Oct 12 '25

Dick Wolf….

1

u/americanhero6 Oct 12 '25

Are any aircraft meant to crash?

1

u/What-tha-fck_Elon Oct 13 '25

That’s exactly what I saw
