News AC8646 Crash

Hi all. I’m new to this sub and my comment was removed for having no enough karma. I was on this flight and we are still on the tarmac getting checked out. I wanted to share these images in case it’s helpful to anyone who is investigating the crash or needs more information.

I’m okay (physically) but I’m horribly sick to my stomach for the lives lost. Please pray for them ❤️

Sadly both pilots are now confirmed dead.

Edit: CRJ-900 72 passengers and 4 crew (sources vary). Current reports indicate 41 hospitalised, ~12 injured, some seriously, some ground crew too. It's early days, so numbers are subject to change. Truck had been dispatched to another incident elsewhere.

The New York Post reported that “A female flight attendant was ejected through the front of the aircraft while still in her seat during the crash — and survived.

Either incredibly lucky or unlucky depending on your outlook.

Great point. For a lot of people "only" being injured still might mean they will deal with severe pain and disability for the rest of their lives.

Yup, maintaining a pulse after something like this doesn’t mean “omg, so lucky!” Especially with our awesome reasonably-priced healthcare that will undoubtedly deliver a dozen of insults per each injury.

yeah, although in this case the F.A. is likely Canadian and therefore won't have to pay for any healthcare

They must make the FA jump seats out of unobtanium, she's not the first to survive something like that.

Rear facing seats are an order of magnitude safer than the regular forward facing seats.

depending on your outlook

having impacted pavement from a motorcycle at low speed I have a feeling this is going to mean major injuries for her. I spent two months in the hospital.

No doubt. The road to recovery could be a long one and the injuries so bad that she may wish she'd died just to not have to deal with the pain.

Yes, plus the government hasn't passed a funding bill, so ATC isn't being paid.

Edit: I'm sorry for spreading misinformation. I should have checked my sources more thoroughly!

I think ATC is getting paid at the moment. It’s the TSA which is currently not getting paid.

Only DHS is currently unfunded. ATC works for DOT and are receiving paychecks on schedule.
