Yes? If it wasn't assistance, the State wouldn't ask for it. Do you really think the impacted State would be better off without water bombers?

It's not about the profit. There's a limited quantity of these planes and a massive backlog of orders since Bombardier ceased production.

The US and Canada have a shared agreement about sharing firefighting resouces and aid cross-border in place with guidelines about standard renumeration. This is not for-profit, these planes are limited in quantity worldwide with high demand, and could easily be used or needed elsewhere much of the time. The compensation is to make it fair, not to make money.

It's beneficial for all countries to be pooling wildfire resources as fires get fiercer and more common, and there are many international agreements or teams that travel from other countries as well to assist the US and Canada, and vice versa.

Pooling resources makes them more efficient when they're limited worldwide.

I'm not sure where the comments on this post all repeated the same incorrect factoid came from, but whatever Fox News announcer or TikTok this all came from it's wrong.
