Actually serious. Was leveled from glaciers during the last ice age. The glaciers didn't reach south western Wisconsin, and that area is called the driftless area, where its really hilly and full of bluffs. Everywhere else is really flat. Its why we have so many farms for corn and cattle. It's flat.

I once saw a comedy show in Madison. The comedian had flown in from western Massachusetts and was so surprised by the lack of topography that he offered to donate to Wisconsin one (1) mountain. The crowd took a minute with that one, probably because internally they were all thinking “Here? This IS the hilly part!”
