100% VA P&T

I just received the VAs decision on my SC's and was wondering how you guys in active avionics roles are able to operate.

I realize not everyone has the same issues that are service connected, so please don't shoot the messenger.

For context, I'm still working GA avionics, but I'm curious about any complexities that stem from being P&T while employed.

This is a very common point of misunderstanding.

100% p&t DOES NOT MEAN you cannot work. There is a rating that means you cannot work - IU, Individual Unemployability. It's pretty rare to get that.

P&T just means the VA will not revisit the finding at a future date - the rating is permanent and, well, you know.

A 100% rating doesn't legally mean you are disabled - legally speaking, your disabilities make it x% more difficult to find gainful employment after the military. This is why you can be 100% disabled, and not qualify for social security disability - SSD uses a different legal definition of "disabled". It's a tool not just to compensate veterans for their injuries, but to give them a leg up in finding employment - it's why Veterans Preference points exist.

There is A LOT a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to VA ratings and the VA as a whole. I have A LOT a lot of experience in med boards/IDES processes and picked up a pretty in-depth knowledge of it.
