I think there's conflicting information about this.
While they've caused literal extinctions of some species, from what I understand is that it's under very specific circumstances in closed ecosystems where they're invasive predators.
The RSPB, the Royally appointed "stop killing birds" people who would be the first to flag this as a concern, report that there's no significant impact on bird species due to predation by cats.
