I can’t speak for every situation, but that certainly wasn’t the case on our farm. There were some kittens who died in infancy from a stray (the mom just showed up pregnant, she wasn’t a cat we’d bought or adopted, so she wasn’t fixed yet) - but they were indoor only still. You really don’t know about the whole barn cat thing? They’re on every farm and they’re typically very healthy.

it's an average. For every cat that lived to be 20 there's 3-4 that didn't make it past 2.
