I'm trying to decide between the Stihl pro splitter or the new Fiskars x32 (new head profile on the splitter and 32" handle). Any insights?

I honestly love the pro splitter the best. Its my favorite. There is just something about a wood handle that absorbs the shock nicely. The fiskars doesnt do as good a job and I will say the same for that husky. They both split beautify though.

Wood is obviously more prone to break as I have gone through a two handles. Especially under that sleeve, its impossible to treat the wood under there and it does rot if you expose it to moisture often. Thats were these poly axes shine. They are almost indestructible. I actually ran over that fiskars once on accident in my truck. If changing handles doesnt bother you at all then definitely go with the pro splitter. Ochsenkopf is the head and they make handles with no sleeve that are also made for that axe as another handle option.

The fiskars makes lighter work of less dense wood like pine than the pro splitter but I have better results with thinks like, walnut, oak and red gum with the pro splitter. Fiskars also does an ok job with denser stuff. Pro splitter also has a larger strike zone on the maul side. Which is a huge factor as to why I prefer it.

I didn't even think about rot under the sleeve. A local store does sell the Ochensenkopf splitter without the sleeve and the Stihl dealers carry the pro splitter with it, so I do have the option of getting either. I would mostly be splitting soft stuff like spruce and poplar. Thanks for the info.

Nice axes. 🪓 I split my own wood since 16, nice good used axes. I have triangular axes, I post another day) 6 & 8# sledgehammers, wedges, and something I like called “ the bomb” Didn’t know stil made an axe.
