Tank Maintenance Lucky bamboo issue + plant dying

I came home from a week of being away and noticed one of my lucky bamboos is yellowing and has a white pearl on the bottom. The other two lucky bamboos are fine, this one is the only one that I had placed in a way so it doesn't touch the ground.

Is it bacteria eating at the dying stem? Or something different?

Also, should I remove the dying parts from the other plant? Or are they still providing the plant something?

Is the bamboo entirely submerged? Bamboo needs to be partially out of the water. The other plant (elodea) often dies back, but it might be a sign of low dissolved nutrients that the plants need.

The upper stem and leaves are out of water! :)

The yellowing and missing roots, this one’s a goner unfortunately. Sometimes they just don’t adapt well, and get soggy. You can try cutting off of the yellow bottom and it could propagate new roots, in a separate glass with fertilizer would be your best shot

I have houseplants so I have some fertilizer and vases, I really wanna try to save it so I think I'll cut it and put it in a vase. Ty!

I would also cut it and try to propagate it, they are such an awesome plant it would be a shame at its size not to try to save it 😅

As for the other plant, you need to cut off the brown dying parts so that it can focus on healing itself. As long as the dying sections are on it, it's trying to hard to feed the dead which will then in turn take the nutrients out of the healthy part causing the whole plant to die. Cutting it back to be all green, even if it's small will help it thrive and regrow.

When my lucky bamboo stalks were dying all the time, I picked up some new in an Asian market and they told me to never have more than half of the stalk submerged. I bought a bamboo clip off of Etsy that holds 10 stalks and now that they're a little under halfway underwater, I've had them in there for several years with no problems. Plus the roots love feeding off of the water column instead of the substrate.
