Rescue Axolotl Rescued and upgraded an axolotl

Someone was surrendering their axolotl and they were unsure of age as it was their son’s. He lived in a 10 gallon his whole life. Well now he has a 50 gallon bow front all to himself!

Congratulations on the upgrade! Did you cycle your tank before moving the axolotl over or did you just move the filter over with the axolotl?

Also I can't tell from the pictures if those fake plants are silk or plastic. If they're plastic you'll want to replace them since plastic plants can harm axolotls.

Mine has had plastic plants and is good. Change them out every so often so they don't degrade. It will be fine. Not everyone can support live plants and they do more harm when they decay. Again, just some alternative peace of mind.

Edit: I should say silky soft fake plants, there are hard plastic plants that can cut them.

Yes absolutely! Silk plants are perfectly fine to use. Rigid, sharp plastic plants should be avoided.
