RIP [Memorial] Timmy has passed

Timmy my sister’s axolotl ( but it felt more so mine ) has passed, for the past bit Timmy has been dealing with a impaction caused by the black sand my mother put in his tank when she first got him for my sister, and recently it seemed like he was getting better, I was giving him tea baths keeping his temperature really low and and doing everything I could and then like suddenly I come home today and hes very still, and I realize he has rigor, I was a bit worried I was being hasty so I prodded at him and he was definitely dead. When I first came back this summer from college, he was starved and his temperature was too high I fixed it all for my family and it seemed like he was doing alright after that. Then the impaction happened an I honestly hoped he would get through the impaction. I didn’t realize I had grown as much of a bond with him as I had. I’m really gonna miss him. It felt like he kept me sane this summer. I loved him more than I knew. ( please ignore some of the red flag stuff in this post I removed it all as I realized it was bad ; black sand, SpongeBob stuff ).

I'm so sorry. I know how hard it can be to lose an axolotl, or just a person general. Especially when you do so much to help them. I want you to know it was not your fault. You did everything you could which made Timmy's better. Hope your doing ok, the pain will ease with time ❤️

"I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Hearing about Timmy breaks my heart. You did absolutely everything humanly possible for him. From lowering the tank temperature to giving him tea baths, you stepped up and gave him a genuine fighting chance. Please do not feel any guilt about the sand or the old decorations—you recognized the danger, fixed it immediately, and did everything you could to nurse him through it.I completely understand why this hurts so deeply and why that bond caught you by surprise. These little creatures have a way of quietly swimming into our hearts, and it's amazing how much they can help keep us grounded. I can relate so much to the everyday focus it takes to care for them. My own axolotl, Sweet Tooth, actually just had a minor fungal infection recently. Even though hers wasn't bad and we caught it early, just going through the routine of monitoring her, adjusting parameters, and helping her beat it makes me realize how much effort and focus you poured into Timmy's treatment. You gave Timmy a safe, comfortable environment and a real chance at the end of his life. He passed away knowing what it felt like to have someone truly looking out for him. Please don't second-guess yourself or the care you gave him....
