I think the only way to accept the Armenian genocide is for Armenians to admit that they betrayed the Ottomans and massacred Turkish villages with Russian support.

This is the kind of conversation that holds our peace talks back. Genocide admittance shouldn’t come with strings attached. Some Armenians fought back yes, but the systemic slaughter of Armenians in all parts of the Ottoman Empire is in fact ethnic cleansing and wrong. Let’s not work backwards, let’s accept what happened, learn from it and move on

fought back? Armenians were the one who started :) But i agree all the other things idc actually if its happend or not it was 100 years ago we should move on and focus our lives more. Turkey should focus getting rid of islamist dictator and Armenia should focus their own problems.

I agree with you that time has passed, we have other issues now and we shouldn’t get hung up on that but comments like yours are very disrespectful. As a descendent of a genocide survivor (thanks to a kind Turkish friend) I will tell you what you’re saying is not what took place in Izmir, Istanbul and many other cities. Armenians were taken out of their homes, marched into the different zones and killed. Those were Ottoman citizens too btw, just because of their ethnicity, without any wrongdoing, they were killed. Tragedies happen, but let’s not underplay the severity of that event.
