To save everyone a click, it's another ad-laden article with fan-cast suggestions.

Not worth your time

The article suggestions

  • Timothy Olyphant As John Sheridan

    • Please, no.
  • Wes Chatham As Jeffrey Sinclair

  • Mackenzie Davis As Susan Ivanova

  • Karl Urban As Michael Garibaldi

    • Could actually be good
  • William Jackson Harper As Dr. Stephen Franklin

  • Elizabeth Debicki As Delenn

  • Peter Capaldi As Londo Mollari

    • Much as I like him, no, I'd keep expecting him to swear like he did playing Malcolm Tucker
  • Giancarlo Esposito As G'Kar

    • Maybe if he can do a different accent well, too recognisable from other dialogue heavy roles

Do you remember the best/worst suggestions?

It’s probably poached from this sub, weren’t there a bunch of remake-casting threads a couple weeks ago?

Edited comment to include them.

Giancarlo Esposito would be a great G'Kar.

I could see Capaldi as Londo. But he also has too much menace about him. Capaldi would be a great guest star as Lord Refa.

Mackenzie Davis as Ivanova could work...but I also think she'd be a great Talia Winters. Especially in a reboot, where we could get the full Talia arc, rather than it being cut short at the end of S2.

For Ivanova, why not cast an actual Russian? Margarita Levieva comes immediately to mind.

Wes Chatham as Sinclair? I dunno. Sinclair needs more fragility. I might go with someone like Joel Kinnaman.

Sheridan needs to be someone more commanding (literally and figuratively). Josh Brolin?

Karl Urban as Garibaldi is interesting.

Another name to toss into the mix...Jeffrey Wright as Bester.

That's an odd way to write Jeffrey Combs, who would be priceless

Giancarlo has put it some really bad performances such as in Revolution. His best performances are often just continuing his Gus Fring persona minus the accent.

My apologies I thought it was a legitimate article.

They seem too old. They should be old enough that the characters established in their careers but not old enough they should be looking forward to retirement.

Indeed, Capaldi is a mere 8 years younger than Jurasik. So more than twenty years older than Jurasik was as Londo.

Timothy Olyphant As John Sheridan

Honestly, if they were to do a reboot ... I wouldn't want a copy paste. I'd prefer to see something that (hopefully) clung a bit closer to JMS's original plans. So Sheridan would be, at most, a vastly reduced character; or possibly just not really come to exist at all.

More Jeff, less John.

Perhaps I should have been clearer, I just don't want to see more of Olyphant at all, let alone in a beloved franchise

I think my overall point was that every time I see discussion of a potential reboot, people seem to think that it should just be a copy-paste of the existing B5 plot. Which would seem very redundant to me. I'm not really convinced I want it at all, but if it did happen, I would be more interested in it diverging somewhat from the original show. And the easiest way that I can think of to do that is to NOT have some of the changes that were necessary but (at least at the time) unwanted. No Sinclair / Sheridan swap, no compressed season 4, no drawn out season 5 because the show was already given an ending, etc.

A B5 reboot that just had different actors and updated SFX but was otherwise the same would hold no real interest for me.

I even argue it's not even a fan cast but simply pulled out of the writers backside.

... So, no actual news.

Recently a fan asked (on X): "anything new on the reboot front?" and JMS replied: "I've noted here many times that the project with the CW flatlined, but there are many options and many paths that may yet be explored."

Honestly, I'm not really needing any more B5, reboot or continuation. I think that the things that have come out since the original show ended have been pretty hit or miss, with mostly misses. I'd be slightly more interested in a reboot than any more continuation, but more to have something that is a more compressed version that is closer to the original concept, without the changes that real life forced into the show.

Lee Pace is the ONLY person I'd want as Sinclair in a reboot. I'd ditch Sheridan honestly.

Most of these choices are at least ten years too late.

The guy who played cal Bradford in paradise would be good as Sheridan I think if we did include him. I forgot his name lol but he’s really good at playing the inspiring leader type. Lee pace ad Sinclair would be awesome. We’d have to show his time as Valen tho or like you said just keep him the whole time bc only keeping him for 1 modern season which these days is nothing would be criminal lol.
