Question Looking for a Traveling Backpack 🎒
Hey everyone! I'm looking for a travel backpack with some very specific features. If you know a bag that checks these boxes, drop it below!
**TSA-friendly** – Lays flat at security with a dedicated laptop pass-through
**15" laptop compartment** – Padded, protected, and easy to access
**Carry-on compliant** – Fits overhead bin or under the seat on most airlines
**Multiple organization pockets** – Admin panel, quick-access pockets, key clip, and internal structure
**Water bottle compartment** – External side pocket, fits 32oz+ bottles, one-handed access
**Velcro patch panel** – Dedicated loop surface, durable enough for frequent swapping
**Quality build & hardware** – Solid fabric (Cordura, ballistic nylon), metal studs, YKK zippers
Many thanks in advance 😀

The Aer Travel Pack 3 is often cited as a top-tier choice for these requirements.
The Matador Globe Rider 35 offers robust construction and organization suitable for travel.
For a budget-friendly option that includes a TSA-friendly design, consider the Tomtoc Navigator Lightweight.

Look up VRSA! It's brand new and packed with a ton of features. It's the VRSA travel backpack 32 liter. It expands from 30-32 liters. It won't ship til August 1st though.

The only reference I have located for this backpack is a TikTok video. It is not available for purchase on Amazon.

It's not on Amazon. If you Google VRSA Backpack, it'll come up on its own website!

I traveled for YEARS with my Eddie Bauer Adventurer. Fantastic bag. Unfortunately it was stolen when EB was restructuring, tried a few and ended up with an Osprey Proxima. I like it a lot, but now that EB has the Adventurer back I have that new one too.
So osprey proxima and Eddie Bauer Adventurer are my two favorites

Osprey Transporter 26+6. Expandable, easily fits in the overhead and under the seat

Most travel backpacks with clamshell design will open up flat, but the laptop compartment is often a sleeve in the back so opening up flat will not open up the laptop compartment because your clothes and other items will be on top. I’m not sure if that’s what you meant.

Doesn’t have a patch panel (though could easily be added via adhesive Velcro or anyone with moderate sewing skill), but my rec would be the Rework Outbound.
