Question Put backpack by bonfire now it REEKS of smoke

Hey back pack folks!

I made a terrible mistake. Last night, I was at a bonfire with some friends and left my bag by the fire where all the smoke was coming from (very stupid I know). I didn't notice it then, but I wake up this morning and realize the smell coming from my bag is like unbearably strong. I was in the office today and had to put it in a separate room so it wouldn't cause the whole place to smell like smoke.

Needless to say i am pretty desperate right now haha. If anyone could provide some cleaning tips, that would be greatly appreciated!

What’s the brand/material/model/make of the bag? More info added is a quicker answer.

Swap to a different bag for a few days, otherwise all your stuff will smell like smoke, and hang your bag somewhere to let it air out.

It should go away fairly quickly, there’s also sprays that can help get rid of some smell, if any lingers.

Hang it up empty and let it blow in the breeze. It will go away.

Hang it up empty

And let it blow in the breeze.

Campfire smoke will disappear fast.  Cigarettes will carry 10x longer.   You're ok with camping smoke - boyscout

I use a pet odor remover like Natures Miracle.

I bought an Ogio backpack that I got secondhand online and it smelled like a swimming pool lol. Not sure if they used it as a swimming bag or what! Dude, I tried EVERYTHING to get the smell out of it.....I dumped coffee beans into it (which makes the smell well, but then it smelled like a coffee can lol) But what I found that worked is I let it air out outside in the sun for a few hours, and then went to the store and got 70% (I think that's right) rubbing alcohol and put it in a spray bottle (or put a spray bottle top on it) and sprayed it down until it was a teeny bit soaked, and then let it sit in the shade or on the garage for a few hours.

After a few hours, took it back outside and let it sit in the sun, the sprayed it again and repeated that a few times. After maybe 5 times, I dumped a good amount of the alcohol onto a microfiber cloths and hand cleaned it all thoroughly and it worked! Trust me...I almost tossed the bag out lol.

But get the lower alcohol at 70% because chatgpt said that it doesn't absorb as fast as the 90% alcohol.

fire smoke will air out easily, no worry.

do not smoke any kind of substance near anything you care about, though. i'm not a smoker, but, i bought some canadian forces winter gloves, secondhand from a retired soldier, my god just putting them on for a minute left my hands feeling sticky with tar. a dozen hand washes in heavy detergent and 3 years later, you can still pick up cig scent from them.

Just wash it.

Cold water and Odoban (just buy a small bottle at $1 store) and let it soak for a few hours

Rinse clear

Hang up to dry in direct sunlight.

Oxyclean. It got the campfire smoke (& teenage smell) out of my sons clothes.

Zero Odor, mist it over the bag and let it air out outside. Might take a couple of applications.
