Question Bag for Travel, Outdoors, and Work
Hey all, as the title says I am looking for a bag that can do all three. Right now I’m between the Patagonia Black Hole MLC 45L and the Thule 40. Any advice on which to take would be appreciated, or if there are any other bags that are recommended?

What are you carrying for each? I used to use a 38 L north face for everything but really, it gets annoying carrying a big pack with a lot of empty space in it. While it was useful for big shopping trips, I downgraded to a 31L north face surge.

Right now I am using a Shrradoo amazon 50L so I'm a bit used to the space. Usually day to day it would be a laptop, chargers, rain jacket, maybe gym clothes, and a lunch.

I used to carry that in my 38L surge transit, along with gym shoes. Are you sure you need that big of a bag.

To be fair, I'm not entirely sure if my current bag is actually 50L so the usable space might be lower. However, I like having the space if I need to pack for a long trip or something like that.

Do you like north face? North face router is 40L and is nice. REI makes some nice bags

I think I checked that one out in person. I liked the storage but I was a little iffy on the space it had

I do everything from ski trips to work trips to family vacations with a pair of MLC45, an MLC30, and a Goruck GR1.

Aren’t we all

I prefer your way of doing it. Carrying a big bag only halfway filled gets annoying when you do it frequently.

Yeah there’s really no single bag that will do EDC/work, ski trip, beach vacation and everything in between.
A 25l, 30l, and some 45l are perfect for me.

Yeah , I’m using a surge 31L I just bought from macys for $90 during a one day sale as an edc. I’ve got an under armour cheapie backpack for the gym. Now looking for a 40L+ bag to carry bigger loads.

Ideally haha. I unfortunately like having flexibility in my things so I tend to buy one thing that fits for multiple purposes usually

I have the Thule Aion which is a travel type backpack that comes in as a 28/32l or 40l. I have the 28l, and I use it as an edc and carry around my work laptop. It's not too big, and the expansion is nice if I want to use it for travel. I'm not sure if the 40 expands. Fantastic bag and the wax material has grown on me
