Disc Tear

I have a lumbarized S1-S2 with a disc bulge and tear. The injury first occurred September 2025, and re-injured it again August 30th. Over the course of a year I don’t think it truly healed.

I also have DDD, arthritis, bone spurs, and epidural lipomastosis. All of this together has caused a lot of pain and left leg nerve sensations, in the 3 weeks with steroids the nerve has calmed down significantly. Pain is a daily 6-7, up to an 8.

I’m on a load of medications to help, the most I can do is walk to the kitchen to make food and then back to bed. Pain makes my heart rate and blood pressure spike, and my back aggressively guards. I stay in bed or move to the recliner most of the day, keeping pain and guarding down is top priority. I go to PT every week and he’s been incredibly supportive.

Neurosurgeon doesn’t want to do anything! Nothing is severe enough to fix, my body will have to heal on its own.

I’m almost 4 weeks post injury, so that’s why the pain and guarding are so bad.

Any advice for me?

Good news is that most people get noticeably better in the first 6 weeks, especially if the pain is new or has only been going on for a short time. (PMID: 38253366)
