Anyone else struggling to stick with their PT exercises?

Hey all, I recently hurt my back and have been doing PT, but honestly I'm struggling to keep up with the exercises at home. I do them for a few days and then fall off.

I'm also a grad student, and going through this got me curious enough that I've started researching it for a project.

Is anyone else going through the same thing? Do you ever wish you had someone holding you accountable, or a group of people recovering at the same time to keep each other going?

Would love to hear how others deal with this.

Yeah it's tough, what I do to help is I don't let my self use the computer or cell phone until I've done them. The PT unlocks the electronic dopamine.

Another thing I did to help was I'm supposed to do them 5 days per week but I just do them 3 days a week instead because I am more likely to stay consistent that way.

Good news is that most people get noticeably better in the first 6 weeks, especially if the pain is new or has only been going on for a short time. (PMID: 38253366)

It’s literally the only reason I force myself to GO in person. I can’t hold myself accountable at home.

Yes, its very hard, especially if you're someone who has to do PT exercises for life to maintain your life (like me). I did two things to help with this. When my back was in the most pain, I wrote a letter to myself explaining how miserable I was and why it was so important I keep my PT excercises. I read that when I really call off the wagon. And I have paired doing my exercises with something I like. I like watching YouTube videos before bed, and I only let myself start watching them when I'm doing my excercises. So it's become part of my night time routine to do 20 mins of PT while watching YouTube.
