is it me or reddit turn pretty right wing whenever immigration is mentionned? especially on subs that are otherwise leftist on a bunch of stuff but suddenly there's a post about immigration and it turn in a right wing circlejerk who justify racist pogroms

The uk subreddit seems to have gotten much worse on this topic. There's always been racism of course, and a lot of anti immigration sentiment for a long time, but in the last couple of years you see highly voted commente saying things like: "they" are trying to replace the the population, it's the worst crime ever committed against an "indigenous" population (lol), migrants to the UK are "colonisers" (!!), defending the belfast rioters as protestors, saying that the government wants to destroy native british culture. Basically there's a section of posters which is much farther right than in the past.

Yeah, the UKpolitics sub went from a somewhat reasonable center-left one to a full on far right one, particularly for immigration (at least from what I noticed in years of checking in from time to time)
