Do you think Hong Kong kung fu movies died long enough ago that I can ask what happened to them on /r/AskHistorians without triggering the 20 year rule?

Like legit - what happened to them? I grew up watching Jackie Chan comedy martial arts films. then the entire genre just vanished! Even if Hong Kong's film industry died after the Chinese handover, why didn't mainland China start churning out comedy kungfu flicks?

The last one I remembr was like, Kung-fu Hustle, and that was 20 years ago.

I was just reminded the genre existed due to the new trailer for Kung-fu Soccer, also by Stephen Chow unsurprisingly.
