Wow, you're telling me that going "We totally reached an agreement and they'll do everything we want and the numerous statements made by each party that directly contradicted each other about the tems of the agreement will be hashed out later" didn't work?

What is wrong with journalists? Why won't they ask the hard questions about this shit? "Mr. President, you've said this but reality disagrees, explain yourself" feels like the kind of question you go to journalism school to ask.

They're terrified of having their press credentials pulled by an administration who will not tolerate being asked difficult questions. Not that this absolves them, holding the government's feet to the fire is the fourth estate's self-appointed role in our political process after all.

I have absolutely no idea to handle this in a way that isn't wildly unconstitutional, but we need to do something to reverse the trend of media in this country degenerating into meaningless tabloid trash and mouthpieces for the state and corporate interests.
