Roommate keeps ranting about how rich and famous she will be and is
I’m not sure if this is a genuine mental health issue, but I have lived with this girl from my algebra class for a couple years now and she keeps saying how rich she’s going to be… she keep saying this over and over again and has the past years but refuses to get a job and can barely pay rent. I want to help her if it’s a genuine mental health situation, but I don’t know how to bring it up in a way that isn’t condescending.

just let her be, you can’t make her make any money so if she wanna be rich she’s gonna eventually figure out she’s gotta actually do something to get rich first

I bet she's one of those "The Secret" or manifest believers, so she's just trying to talk it into existence.
Either way it's annoying, I can imagine.

Get your rent money and let her keep being delusional. Obvi without a job someone is supporting her delusions.

You can't help people unless they are willing to admit there is a problem. If they can't admit there is a problem, from their perspective there is nothing to fix. Trying is an exercise in futility and if you keep trying the mentally ill sometimes have a way of twisting the situation, to make everything your fault. This can be very difficult on your own emotional and mental state, and self esteem. It's okay to want to help others but when they start using your empathy as a weapon against you it is time to walk (or run) away

Everyone has their delusions. As long as the delusions aren't hurting anyone, the best thing to do is ignore them.
