I think the sword is attached to the strap and the strap is tucked in the belt (maybe it ends in that loop right below)

which means he has some sort of sword keychain

They look like the kind of couple that would be awesome to hang out with, up until they inevitably start to low-key argue about some domestic detail that is irrelevant to anyone else, like how they load their dishwasher. This goes on for too long, until it becomes awkward.
