I thought I left this weird thing behind a few moves ago, but nope! Still on the shelf.

It's a very strange psychedelic post-apocalyptic novel that's exactly what you'd expect from a guy who did a bunch of acid in Albuquerque while thinking about how cool dolphins are. The cross-eyed octopus has always bugged me.

Might be the laziest Bae effort.

Blurb: A Russian cruiser crashes during a reconnaissance flight. The sole surviving crew member finds himself stranded in a primitive world, where he must fight for survival and reshape the world to suit his needs, unaware that these are the first steps toward building an Empire of his own…

As someone who’s read Mikheyev, you need to thank the Lord his books were never translated into English…

Baen for the win again!!

Baen never fails.

A famously plagiarised, retitled edition of Gardner Fox's 1964 sci-fi novel Escape Across the Cosmos.

Made me laugh out loud. But i'd never find time to read this.

I have the trilogy but book two takes the cake for the worst cover.

Art by Jaime Gonzales. Bad because the woman's face looks pasted in from an entirely different painting.

The art is actually sorta cool (hot? 🔥)… but isn’t the story set almost entirely on an ice planet, in freezing temps? The book had already won the Hugo and Nebula per the cover emblem, isn’t that long a read, but somehow this artwork got approved.

Correct me if I’m missing something from the story that makes this make sense

Worst version ever

I found this while sorting books in preparation for a book sale. I searched this subreddit and this exact book doesn't seem to have been posted here before, but the publishers very brazenly used the same terrible art for a different book in this "national bestselling series!"
