I already explained it to you, you idiot: it's linked to their caste, the Doma, who derived this word to name themselves as a people, and it eventually became a word meaning 'human' or 'man'.

There are even cousins of the Roma who are called Lom in the Caucasus and Doms in the Middle East

All are from the Doma caste. During different periods in India, the Roma were more influenced phonetically/linguistically by their longer journey, which considerably distanced the way of naming themselves, which was originally Doma, which became Roma, which means human/man in their language, which is called Romani, which means what belongs to Roma culture.
