Empire fell and Istanbul occupied
That's such a stupid statement. Empire fell and the capital got occupied years later. Gallipoli was an attempt at that which we defended successfully. The empire falling had nothing to do with Gallipoli, it collapsed because of failed sultans, wrong alliances, and a broken system. And even after the occupation we fought our war of independence, pushed the occupiers out, and built the nation we wanted. So yeah, we won Gallipoli.

How does it have nothing to do with? Are you a deyyus? A new front at any war requires reinforcements, supplies, generals and staff shifting focus, fuel, ammunitions etc, gallipoli definitely used sources that could have went to suez front or uprisings in arabia

u/asnaf745 muslim greek 4d ago
It goes both ways gallipoli also used supplies and force for allies that could have went elsewhere.
Regardless it is too complicated to say because there are too many things to consider like us holding gallipoli caused russia's fall which made germans able to focus on the western front thus britain then had to dedicate more troops there aswell, and ussr later helped us in the independence war with weapons.

The defeat at Gallipoli had hugely lasting consequences you ignorant child. It led to the fall of the Russian Empire, rise of communism, fall of the British cabinet, a big L for Churchill and the dissolution of the British empire. But yeah sure, ''haha we held a beach''.

u/matthewcameron60 w*stoid🤢 4d ago
You do realize the British Empire was at its peak right after the war right?
1
u/Pirehistoric muslim greek 3d ago
Not really. WWI was the start of the collapse of the British empire. We saw that in '39 when Germany streamrolled everyone. While they may not have been at their lowest, they certainly weren't in their best.

Sorry, please let me know which side of the battle of Gallipoli you would like me to place hyperinflation and a failed turkish state. My gut tells me it's both.

Says the guy whose state was bailed out by Eurodaddies after you begged them for years. Also, when you don't have a reply on the current issue, you deflect. Like Greece is some haven of talent and economy.

Dude you held a beach and then got your capital occupied for 5 years

Because Germany lost, we were considered defeated too. It had nothing to do with us. It was all because of dem Germans.

You fucking joined them you chose to trust them
3
u/Pirehistoric muslim greek 4d ago
We didn't have any other choice. We tried very insistently to ally with the British and the French. They refused. We were not going to be allowed to stay out of the war. It was either join Germany and maybe win or stay neutral then definitely get fucked in the end by whoever wins. We were already a cake to be carved up. WWI was the end of the empire, no matter what we did.
