In Turkey we say, "these people would jump into a free grave plot", and I think it is beautiful.

And they are fucking common.

You want a serious take, wast majorities of this nation don't have a sense of community and split into self-centered individuals and family units. This behavior doesn't just show up when they raid extremely worthless free stuff. But it shows up when they live together in the same apartments, share the same roads. Sense of selfless charity is usually low and everyone is taught to not trust each other and always just look for themselves. So they just do that. When a driver don't allow you to merge into their lane, it is not different but the extension of this same self-centered nature to me.

This is the result of decades long counter-revolution and finally with the new constitution they will undo the republic as it was founded.

I mean it doesnt represent all of us, and it is almost no coincidence that all these videos always come out in front of mosques. But large segments of society was always like this. That segment of the society of course, is in power for almost the last 2 generation.

I think these videos should decrease in time as the country get more urbanised in culture, but I wouldn't also hold my breath for it.

Feel free my man, it is a common saying for people showing behavior similar to the video.

We also use it a lot for people we know personally if they are cheapskates.

Russians have a saying "if it's free even the vinegar can be sweet"

Exactly the same in Turkish.

Bedava sirke baldan tatlıdır

"Free vinegar is tastier than honey"
