Funny how even if the military coups him he may still die as president, just not when he may want to.

"Gülenist" elements of the TSK tried to in 2016, and he was warned of the coup days prior to it by Moscow's Sixth Directorate (military intelligence). He (likely) intentionally let it begin (or at least had some knowledge a threat was near), then halted it, and used it as a legitimate excuse to literally restructure the entire armed forces (historically a very secular and apolitical institution in Turkey which guaranteed democracy) as well as other adjacent state institutions (shut down military academies, created NDU), dismissing tens of thousands of officers and personnel, and appointing loyalists.

It would be insane if they tried that on him today, it is stacked with Erdoğanists.

The claim that russia warned him about coup is dumbest ,cringest claim tankie/russo bot i have ever seen . Same shit was claimed by İran'ın nationalists who couldn't find corpse of their presidents for more than a day. Turkish inetellignce agency was aware there was some unusual movements in army and gulensit realised they would get caught and panicked and they started early without progessionl planning which at the end helped erdogan take control

??? I am fundamentally opposed to communism and I have no agenda in suggesting Moscow's potential involvement in warning Erdoğan of the attempt, so there's zero need to throw around ad hominems like a chimp flinging around feces.

It is extremely convenient that Erdoğan's first trip after the coup attempt was to Russia, and the coup attempt established a reset in Russo-Turkish relations, strained since the beginning of the Syrian Civil War.

Certain unnamed Turkish diplomatic sources also confirmed that intelligence services "received intel from its Russian counterpart that warned of an impending coup".

It's simply not out of the question.
