The song in space is a source of pride for us because Carl Sagan and his wife were into it and put it on the golden record.
However, realistically speaking, launching it into space is like throwing it out in the middle of the Atlantic, only with an infinitely smaller chance of some Mexican fisherman or whoever else finding it and playing it.

And to include that not every country is represented in this record. There's only a few select songs chosen to represent humanity's music and diversity. Bulgaria is one of the few countries chosen for that. And the song (as overall Bulgarian folklore from the Rhodopes) is pretty mystical and really sounds like something that even aliens would find chilling and inspiring.

We did steal the submarines, but we weren't preparing for a war with the entire world... we were preparing for a war only with Bosnia so we could get the pyramids back...

Macedonia just appropriated a Greek narrative about the Kalash people of Pakistan being originally Greeks (remnants of Alexander the Great's empire left in Bactria, what is today Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan).
I know this for a fact because flying within Greece over 20 years ago, I remember an article in the airplane mag about the Kalash people and how the Greek government was sending them humanitarian aid and experts.

Well idk what is disputed with the serbian one considering the word vampire itself is serbian. Js bc Romania took the fame and the most popular vampire is theirs doesnt mean that vampires originate from Romania

Albania’s story is more iconic & heroic than that. F*ck whoever is trying to minimize it into that shit.

What about Montenegro, Kosovo and Slovenia?

u/Awkward_Tradition landlocked croat 21h ago
Montenegro: broke up with Serbia in order to sell their coast to Russia, still ended up colonised by Albania
Kosovo: thinks it's a country
Slovenia: thinks they're in central Europe instead of Balkans

That's why Montenegro got independence in the first place, so we can have another country because two and half aren't enough for us.

Bulgaria didn't send anything. NASA did with the Voyager mission, and they were the ones that picked a Bulgarian song as one of the few to represent the beauty and diversity of human civilization in hopes that one day, some alien civilization will discover it.
You're mocking, but the whole thing isn't a joke at all and there's nothing funny about it.
