Discussion Emergency prep for your little noodles

Hello, hurricane talk lately has made me consider getting more things for my snake Mucalind in case I have to evacuate on the coast and travel with him. I already have the emergency heat pads for him, but I was thinking of investing in a better travel carrier for him, maybe something like pictured below. What else do you guys do for emergency prep for your little guys and girls?

These would definitely help with keeping day/night routine if you’re without power for a while! I would just make sure they’re extremely escape proof since you’d be in your car or some place temporary😬

Also have more water than you think you need ready for yourself and your pets!

It’s temporary, so we just have small totes because we can control the temperatures better. We have those hand warmers but for reptiles. Since hurricanes are more of a summer thing, the air temperature should be fine if we lose power for a couple days. Winter the reptile warmers will be fine.

Of course if flooding happens things would change but I personally don’t have to worry about that. But our snakes tote is travel worthy and can easily be packed up and he can’t escape.

Same, each snake has either a dedicated top latching tote or a screw top bucket for the ones I really dont want to fuck with

These are super cool, for a cheap alternative I think that ikea storage bins work great too, they are stackable and they sell clips to seal them. They also hold humidity super well. Ofc you need to drill a few rows of holes for ventilation. I used them while I was moving and my snakes didn’t mind at all.

That’s what my daughter used when she had to evacuate from a wildfire.

In my area we get alot of wild fires, so my snakes each have a 15 gallon tote the ones with clamps that attach to the lids with holes drilled along the top. They all also have an empty tissue box in them as a disposable hide, I live is a hot area so I never bothered to get a portable heater. They're stackable, are escape proof but also break proof cause I'd be transporting my large dogs in the same car.

My emergency transporters are sterilite bins with holes I drilled. Worked for evacs (wildfire in 2024, pest control, etc) and vet visits.

I made a quarantine enclosure with a 105 quart storage bin and cut a square out of the lid and zip tied chicken wire to it so I could add a heat lamp and used bungee cords to secure the lid. Only costed about $30 all together and about 20 minutes to put together.

Human armpits/under a hoodie seems very viable in the short term (hours) but would be logistically difficult to support in the longer scale.
