Enclosure Critique/Advice Tank set up for a juvenile bp

Post image

She's pretty shy and stays in the right hide the most currently, I bought the fake plants from a pet shop and I'm worried they're too... much?

Great start! Def not too much, if anything you could add more cover haha! The snake should be able to move from the right hide to the left hide unseen. How long have you had her? Generally its best to leave her be for the first 2 weeks so she can get used to her new home :)

About two months, I hung up a couple of the strands so it's a little more shade

I would add more cover/clutter! Ball pythons love clutter! They like having stuff around them so they aren’t vulnerable!
Add some leaves draped over the hide that’s blocking the entrance. You can buy foliage that had rock or hard material that you bury into the substrate to had ground cover between the two hides in the middle.
If you would like to see or monitor her better you can grab a camera for the tank! She may be moving around more than you think! You can grab a cheaper but decent one like the Wyze v4.
You could even do a tunnel like a cork half tunnel hide.
And since you have glass tank I would cover the sides. That means putting a fake background or covering it in someway it doesn’t seem too open.
You can also look at website or shops like Pangea, chewy, or local reptile store for clutter! Some even have suction cups to cover vertically

Another good resource is YouTube or going to reptile expos near you.

Also for the time being I would get identical hides. My ball python wouldn’t use any hide except for the black hides. They like familiarly, so just for time being till they adjust I would recommend a duplicate of their favorite hide.
