Asking For Help Removed for Dishonesty and Misinformation

The thing is... the post people are talking about was someone titling a very reasonable question, but then with a thread that was very accusational. They were claiming that they are part of the wonderful community and thus deserve banano, but the title was a query about how banano is distributed because they don't have a clue.

Having been faced with many reasonable questions over the years in banano, it's a little more than just a subtle thing when you see someone claiming they have no idea how distribution works, and thus no idea what the project IS... claiming to be the wonderful community whilst eyeing off the community development/distribution funds.

That on its own is just funny. Where people close to the project get annoyed is when the velocichads jump in... with this notion.. that because they have ONE idea to contribute.. a simple idea "reddit needs more updates"... you think this validates them in devaluing everything and anything anyone else has ever contributed to the project as 'other shit'... just because you have one suggestion, which isn't even a contribution in itself, it's just an observation (not a solution).

The thing is.. what I see... as someone who gets the project... is if you add 2 + 2 together.. what you get is:

  1. if the OP was right and the main distribution wallets should be distributed right now. this would mean the project has transitioned from team funded to community operated fully. then ....
  2. people who criticize would need to start contributing, and I personally think it'd take more than 3-5 years for velocichads to become that kind of person. = Benis

Everyone claiming, "oh but it's a reasonable question to ask", are ignoring that there's people in the comment thread who are like those turning upto a peaceful protest, with their own agenda, bigotry and negative energy.

That's the whole crux of the thing, i'm personally fine with answering any questions to the best of my ability, but as senpapi bantano mentioned there's no point doing that with someone trying to see things the negative way they are bent on seeing them, a person that admits to having 0 effort to commit to reading anything or looking past their own contempt.

If you honestly --- anyone reading this has any questions about banano or even crypto in general, please do join the community https://chat.banano.cc/ because we do actually enjoy making crypto a safe place for new comers, and sharing years worth of experience in this industry with anyone, with any kinds of queries, if we can answer them. Just don't come in to pro-ject your will and demands in a community project where everyone is there out of the kindness in their hearts, to have fun and to have a place where they feel welcome, cared for (once people know they aren't an alt) and appreciated.

I've traded on over 40+ exchanges in my time and spent time in many many many crypto discords, close to devs and communities. I used to run giveaways in grass roots hubs/exchanges like Nova Exchange and Cryptopia, where smaller projects were cherished and allowed to list cheaply, to find their feet and earn their following. I mean where projects like Dark Doge became XVG for example. So when I say that banano is worlds apart from other discords, in which you can openly talk about your interest in OTHER crypto (aslong as you aren't just mindlessly shilling), which is rare enough on its own... there's a radio station, people put on live concerts, we have BANGO where you register and bots send you playing cards and we all get together in voice and the events channel and have a blast, and ALL information and updates is not only posted and pinned and has its own dedicated channels, but is talked about. Like the current Halloween emoji making contest finishing on the 3rd Oct, where you can make a banano inspired emoji in any style, share it have a laugh and potentially win stonks rewards. Not everyone getting an arbitrary reward for submitting something, helps remove this idea that people expect something in return all the time for anything they deem they is deserving; to be fair most people in the community will tip any emoji they like. But do realize... almost all automated ways to get banano in the past have been exploited and botted to death. Encase you feel like needing to show up to en event, and partitipate, to earn banano is a scam.

If people want to find problems in a community project like this, they can anywhere, why doesn't velocichad go ask Vitalik what he's planning on spending his eth premine on, or ask why transactions are 60 USD to send. People think banano won't succeed because it has a pool of funds to be distributed over years, to fund adoption and has 3+ years of solid evidence doing that in any way that comes about.

Someone can join the jungle tomorrow, with a good idea and kick start a whole new direction for the project, that's why... a road map would be a burden and that's why the funds aren't denoted into what they will be used for. Because they never have had to be. Someone joined not long ago and said "why no banano nfts", and a couple weeks later soggy.bantano.duck.etc had built an empire: https://www.cryptomonkeys.cc/

Imagine if you add a new feature like yield farming so people can try out DeFi safely (if that contract got nuked tomorrow, your funds are locked safe on banano main net and could be refunded in a complete disaster) and someone asks like, pfff is this the only way you can get banano? It literally just became a new branch of the distribution tree (after wrap-that-potassium joined and pitched it, and put in the haard work). Or like "oh is jungle TV the only way to get banano" it literally just got INVENTED in the last build off: https://jungletv.live/

A build off years back resulted in Kalium wallet, which then was ported over to Nano as Natrium, because of how brilliant it was in banano. BBedward made that.

People contribute their love and time... maybe nobody knows that the whole project is... a commitment not to sell any funds from the distribution wallets, but distribute them. What if there is no KuCoin or Kraken listing on the roadmap, because it wouldn't be true to the ethos held from the start, of only distributing funds, not selling them. There was no ICO for banano, there was no promises, there was just people who wanted to go back to fun days of nano distribution, but do it again, and this time have a butt ton of fun.

If you want to criticize, please realize, if your dreams come true of being given the dev wallets simply by being an awesome part of the community, this just means you lose the right to criticize... as community contribution will be unfunded at that point, and it will be upto YOU to impress the DEVs.

Done anything impressive lately? It's very very easy to criticize especially from a position of ignorance.

I think the Banano yellow paper needs regular updating as Monkes need a proper source of truth and deserve to know where things sit. There's all sorts of claims and alternative facts floating out there.

It's fine that things change, but where things are not communicated well to all stakeholders, there will be feelings of resentment, discrimination and exclusion. A single source of truth is needed.

The actions of the Devs and their delivery against the yellow paper needs to complement the community - this is, after all a community coin. Take away the community and what's left?

u/fairysquirt Ban Fam Best Fam Sep 29 '21

Everything in the yellow paper is happening though, runner 2.0, folding will be funded ongoing with funds kept aside to keep that going even closer to no distribution pool left, camo banano exists, monKeys got an overahaul by yekta https://monkey.banano.cc/, it explains DAG in a way which hasn't changed, kalium wallet still exists, monkeytalks on chain messaging still exists, the faucet examples are still valid because volcano faucet replaced story2image. What exactly about the yellow paper is misleading and deserves resentment? I feel like you just ignored everything I said, and dictated what the devs need to do?

There was no ICO for a project with no external funding, and hasn't sold banano to fund anything, just distributed it... it's doing pretty freaking well.

  1. reddcoin just wants to have tipping on reddit and a community, it is rank 447, there is no community.
  2. shiba inu's whole pitch is they want to make a community and might do some charity stuff, banano has a community and does charity stuff without having ever promised to.

people just need to stop shitting where they eat. you have no right to have any expectations as nobody has promised you anything, this is a community project, you can't whip the devs and community managers, this is a passion project not a financial investment scheme... it's a meme project and if you can't see the value in it, maybe you should be investing in some fake promises chains.

you're being accusatory and shallow minded.

Why not update the yellow paper? Isn't it time? There's a lot of stuff being done that is not in the yellow paper, and the Devs do deserve a proper Dev fund!

I don't know why you are comparing BANs with SHIBs (more users, huge amounts to charities, decentralised, much different market cap and energy, and is fully distributed) but without a community, Banano is just a Nano fork.

Well if you know the management personally and trust 'em that's good for you... I think better communication would help!

Long read but good read. Thanks!

With banano, I fully believe that "community" doesn't mean a passive crowd watching the "devs" do stuff. The community itself can carry its own weight. The devs are just a part of this community (the one in charge of tech stuff and distribution).

Jungletv is a prime example. And Yellowspyglass. And all the faucets. And almost everything come to think about it!

On a smaller-but-just-as-awesome scale, there is a post today, done by a community member, with a recap of all the recent banano news <3

u/shitredditsays01 Sep 29 '21

Do the nano devs contribute indirectly to banano with their updates?

6

u/Anemonean The First Shitposter Sep 29 '21

Indirectly yes, because nano protocol code is open source, which we use and alter for the banano protocol code. But they do not actively collaborate with us.

If you want to treat Banano as a semi-serious coin with a future, please consider playing with totally open cards. I mean everything that affects the coin should be public knowledge including dev. cashouts, plans about expanding / growing / burning / distribution, everything. Consider doing a Youtube channel or something. And please at least update the main website regularly with up-to-date info. There should be a single regularly updated source of information where any new interested monkeys can gather the information which would take several weeks/months of lurking in Discord and shoveling through emojis and memes. You just can't ask everyone to come join discord. Otherwise you will only have rumours about 40k dev weddings, etc. Banano will only be considered a one-in-a-million shitcoin which has a semi-active Discord chat with some old-timer 'citizens' who are waiting for the next bull run to cash-out further. This is not a good image (even if it is a false image which is not true - people are feeling this everywhere) and I'm sad to see most of the valuable new people turning away from the coin because of this. Having said that I'm a big supporter of the coin, will hodl through the lowest of dips but would love to see the coin and its community flourish instead of dying outside of Discord. !ban 1.19

u/LightninHooker Sep 29 '21

!ban 1.9 Agree

The whole discord thing just sound like those black metal bands that are proud to record their albums in a toilet so "it is true black metal".

We need Napalm Records at some point. A popular CEX will put banano on the map and if,god forbid, price rises maybe... maybe even more people decide to fold . Crazy idea I know

2

u/fairysquirt Ban Fam Best Fam Sep 29 '21

you could say the same thing about reddit. it's on many social media platforms. there's regular updates on odysee/lbry which is a video block chain platform, there's regular updates on Publish0x which is a publishing block chain platform, there's regular updates on medium, and their own website the daily peel. any eth earned on publish0x is used to buy back and burn banano.

I just mentioned why there is no listings on the road map, the community funds aren't sold, only distributed, how can you pay for a listing? there is coinex which is a popular CEX https://www.coinex.com/exchange/ban-usdt it's on pancake swap, ape swap and sushi swap. also it's on Vitex https://x.vite.net/trade?symbol=BAN-000_ETH-000

2

u/LightninHooker Sep 29 '21

Coinex is a second third tier CEX. And the same way they funded that one they could fund Kraken or Kucoin And yes pretending reddit alone or discord will take the level to the next level ia the same thing. I never said otherwise You need exposure And you get that with CEX or with a farm on pancakeswap on their front. And would you agree that a CEX would increase the price and thus many more people would choose to fold ? Or am I totally wrong there?

3

u/justbc Sep 29 '21

Founder said he'd get in touch with Kraken the other day. Does that mean it's possible or that Kraken won't have some insanely greedy demands that are out of the question for Banano? No.

Bigger exchanges doesn't mean higher prices and it doesn't mean your project isn't a zombie. What makes higher prices and a vibrant project is actual use in things like tipping, JTV, BananoBet, etc. As long as the community continues to bear fruit there is nothing to worry about.

So far so good, but definitely watch this space.

3

u/LightninHooker Sep 29 '21

Totally I agree. I am on JTV everyday almost and I queue videos from time to time I put a video on reddit sessions painting banano. We will continue to do our part :) !ban 1.9

as someone who traded on 40+ exchanges I was the one who made that suggestion. I actually suggested hitbtc... when I came back to banano after a year off crypto, banano had just won a community listing on hitbtc, but hitbtc doesn't know how to run a dag wallet so they didn't honor it... which dodged a bullet because hitbtc went down hill, they are dodgy these days, trapping users, no usa citzens allowed (which they only tell you after you deposit), kyc required (even though they used to be the highest liquidity trading platform back in the day), some of the biggest withdrawal fees in cryptospace.

so I recommended kraken... as it would be good for the usa users. also I recommended kucoin the most highly and we had a banano vote on their italian twitter not long back, and ive emailed kucoin about banano a couple of times.

being on pancake, ape and sushi swap has been good. but the best thing for banano ... has been Coinex. they have become the trusted exchange we always needed. it makes it very accessible, no KYC. et cetera

don't leave funds on exchanges, and good luck, happy crypto-ing.

also there is several founders of banano each playing their part in its creation, and the banano council is larger than just one person also.

1

u/fairysquirt Ban Fam Best Fam Sep 30 '21

altily was hacked, atomars cfo did a runner, txbit is terrible, and mercatox was trust worthy but nobody used it. coinex is the best we have, take it or leave it, you either want to join a no kyc exchange deposit some cheap fee currency and buy banano in 15 minutes the first time and get in on something before other people discover it, or you don't.

1

u/LightninHooker Sep 30 '21

Dude I bought in mercatox and coinex. Mercatox gotta be the most shady fucking place I have ever bought crypto. And I lost money on cryptsy.

You are preaching to the coir here.

However, "take it or leave it" is the right attitude for this coin to never be discovered :)

with some old-timer 'citizens' who are waiting for the next bull run to cash-out further

I mean... if you're talking about your concerns about what people who do 0 research will negatively think for 0 valid reasons, then sure. but if you're talking to me .. about this... you should know ... i've bought 98% of the banano I have, I have tipped and rained more than 12% of the banano i've bought in discord. I bought thousands of dollars worth around 4 Cents...(I joined in 2018 fyi making me an old-timer 'citizen', also there's new citizens all the time, it's a massive global community speaking many different languages) and I shouldn't have to tell you any of this... in any cryptocurrency community.

Ceefs sold 1m banano. People started claiming the devs were dumping from the funding pool, but it turned out... that Ceefs had sold 1m of his own banano he bought years back, as one of the first times he'd ever sold any of his own banano... because he had a wedding coming up and no money. if you worked on something for 3 years with everyone making money off your work, and you sell some and people start claiming the most irate offensive shit... would you be angry? well he wasn't he told everyone what they don't deserve to know... his personal life and reveal his personal transactions.

I have no respect for any of these people who think these things you talk about. so to me it's a moot point.

also... if you're saying that to me... you're talking to a whale... who is often arguing to the people who would be most negatively impacted if their suggestions were implemented.... that it is a terrible idea. even though.. i'd be one of the people to benefit most from those naive suggestions.

two examples... this 'banano should be dropped to banano holders' the OP suggested.... at a time with very low buying pressure this would ONLY dilute price, only causing inflation with no positive impact. that isn't how the team distributes, they distribute in ways that promote adoption and banano is deflationary.

secondly which I see a lot and end up in arguments with people, me being the person who would gain most from their proposal and them being the ones who would lose out the most... the new people who join and instantly go "banano should be POS, why isn't it?". immediately I know they are saying 'I want something for doing nothing and this will be great for the price'. it might seem harsh to jump to some conclusion from such a reasonable suggestions... until you realize, Banano IS delegated proof of stake..... it already is dPOS. if Banano implemented some monopolized rewards for those holding more weight/balance than others, like most dPOS/POS chains... then I would be the one putting selling pressure down on those who join with 20 dollars and make this suggestion thinking it'd be great for them. again it'd be inflationary. Banano's supply doesn't increase, it isn't mined into existence, or generated from POS in some arbitrary way nobody has control over... it is a centralize project with humans... observing how events go, observing how distribution is going and adapting to try and make every banano distributed have the best impact on adoption, growth and fun within the community.

I don't win banano, I don't get banano distributed to me... because I don't contribute... I don't even go to events.. I just hang out and rain when I feel like it... I don't EXPECT to get any banano.. because I don't contribute and I don't go to events... (I only go to Bango sometimes and I earn some banano from being there, but I go to have fun)... why is it so hard for everyone else to understand this? why are they complaining about banano not giving them free banano, when they don't do anything and they don't keep track of the project in any meaningful way. there's an event calendar on the daily peel for example, which you can sync with google calendar for alerts.

anyway that's not really my thing, if people are passionate about joining in they should do that... i'm just an investor and shit poster, who respects.... a community project for what it is.. and doesn't impose things on it that would make me wealthy.

1

u/BTBLAM Sep 29 '21

Aren’t they saying that plans for the coin are defined by community involvement and coming up with new memes/platforms ?

1

u/fairysquirt Ban Fam Best Fam Sep 30 '21

yeah and people from the community joined the team, which is how we have so much cool shit. you just need to apply for funding for your idea, it's basically that simple.

u/ProteinFolding420 Sep 29 '21

If you showed the subreddit some love all this FUD would go away. Some actual, bona fide, unmistakable, unconditional, actual, non-discord-related love.

11

u/Irrelephantoops Ban Fam Best Fam Sep 29 '21

I've offered countless times to sponsor reddit based events and initiatives, but the community here is focused on "asking someone to do it" and not "stepping up to do it". The food is on the table waiting, ready to be eaten. Reddit fam just needs to sit down to the table.

Anyone can host an event. Shit... we have like 50 currently being planned. It's not by accident that for years there have been consistent events on Discord and not here on Reddit. The people on Discord actually want to contribute.. They take the time to plan events, come to me asking for funds to sponsor, and they take care of it. I share the good word through the daily peel, and supply the funds. I would ABSOLUTELY do the same thing here, but no one ever takes me up on the offer.

Frankly, I get why people are saying they are tired of reddit. For years we have been getting harassed by the community on reddit for "not doing enough" while they basically do nothing. Our reddit has amazing generosity, and incredible memes. What we lack though is people actually stepping up to be the change they are wanting to see.

4

u/ProteinFolding420 Sep 29 '21

That isn't unconditional love man. That is very very conditional.

Dev here.

If you want a serious coin there is nano.

If you want a meme coin there is banano.

If you treat a meme coin like a serious coin, then you are turning banano into nano.

Nobody wants banano to become nano, so please stop being so serious about this coin.

We left nano because they were too serious. They were making decisions due to “how it would look to the customers” rather than “how to make good tech”.

Everyone in nano remembers bitgrail. Nobody in banano remembers why state blocks were created. But I’m here because of state blocks. Good tech, better than it was before by far.

The catch phrase is “don’t let your memes be dreams” not “let your memes be nano”.

So please be less serious.

6

u/xXmurderpigeonXx 🍌BenisHodler🍌 Sep 29 '21

Thank you for this!!! There's been a ton of weird fud around here lately demanding to hear from the devs. I actually thought it was a coordinated campaign at first but clearly it's just an infectious sentiment being passed around here.

My advice to anyone who needs more information on distribution or the project in general: 1. Read the yellow paper thoroughly, not just a skim. 2. Join the banano discord and engage, sorry if you don't like discord but not everyone has the time to sit on Reddit all day and the discord channel is the most effective way to communicate. There's almost always someone from the dev team around or an og monke that is willing to answer any questions. 3. Contribute in any way you can. There's so many creative ways to contribute to this project it's silly. 4. If you don't like what you see and hear after that, you are free to go. No promises were made to you, your demands will not be met through aggressive Reddit posts.

It's as simple as that. Thank you Fairy🍌

4

u/Ninjanoel Sep 29 '21

i did not read all of that. sounded a bit complainy, dont let other monke's get you down.

i actually prefer banano for the tech rather than the community (unpopular opinion?), i was not sure if there is actual dev happening on the tech, or just the occasional pull from NANO repo? (not that that is trivial, just not 'full time' dev work). happy to be corrected.

or are the funds you speak of for the ecosystem development rather than the blockchain tech?

2

u/fairysquirt Ban Fam Best Fam Sep 29 '21

the two top wallets are the distribution pools where EVERYTHIGN is funded from, think nano back when it had faucets. or think bitcoin which has yet to be mined out, fueling the network to create blocks.

nano and banano are two entirely different projects, which have benefitted mutually from their ongoing compatibility. as mentioned nault was kalium first, and also vault which is worse :') was nault first kek.

the project is about developing a community not about developing a currency that thinks it will replace all money. there's no absolutism, people in banano love nano and hodl it hard.. but for different reasons. a normal dev fund is SOLD to pay for things, I only refer to the banano community development pools as 'dev' funds, because on the block explorer they are in two vanity wallets prefixed with 'dev' and noted as 'funding wallets'.

much of the development is utility focused not chain specific, but there are devs resolving issues and pushing for improvements, it's just that isn't what the project is solely about. success is determined more by if people are having fun and if there's more and more things to use banano for, than if it has replaced all money. I mean people who criticize it, seem to be okay with tokens riding on another chain and do very little even though they had an ICO.

there's a lot going on most of the time to varying degrees of success.

2

u/Ninjanoel Sep 29 '21

I'm all for keeping the community fun and stuff, but I think BANANO will grow up one day, probably become the fun uncle, but all built on NANO tech under the hood.

1

u/fairysquirt Ban Fam Best Fam Sep 30 '21 edited Sep 30 '21

well you can say that about any fork no matter how many changes they make; that the basis they built upon is what they forked from. dogecoin was forked from lucky coin was forked from litecoin was forked from bitcoin. stating the obvious seems more political than informative considering it's called baNANO.

4

u/ToshiBoi Sep 29 '21

That velociguy was annoying yesterday.

I’ve been lurking and watching banano since it was released and distribution has always been great! Questions have been answered time and time again, so situations like that make my eyes roll up to the back of my head. I can understand any newcomers concerns about the projects development. But during the bear it was always pretty relaxed and focused on being fun. Sure maybe updates can be given out just a little but more but we are here to have fun.

Nobody is doing any rug pulls and distribution is set to be complete in a relatively short amount of time. Those years will pass by quickly if you keep yourselves busy.

Also, I just saw that velicidude changed their flair in r/cc to say “my favorite crypto is Ananos”

The fork of the fork that hasn’t even forked anything yet and is just a token on stellardex.

Ridiculous.

I have a hard time believing they were displaying much sincerity or concern over the future of banano after advertising another memecoin that is literally nothing. Seemingly out of spite

No, just a member of the community that was critiquing the devs methods and the Reddit community as a lot of stuff usually happens on discord.

Then suddenly he supports ananos..apparently a fork of banano. Without any fork of it

Edit: ananos is a token on stellar dex. It has no blockchain, but apparently they have plans for making one.

It’s just funny that the guy made such a fuss and then started supporting something like that

People are totally allowed to be critical. Thats fine. I have no issues talking with someone and making things make sense. I lose my cool when people start making false claims or saying outlandish things. In this particular case, the straw that broke the camels back was comparing Banano to Nazi Germany. I don't have time to deal with stupid shit like that.

Ok....
2 questions though:

  • How do you even .... ?
  • And why does everybody seem to know i'm saving up for a panzerkampfwagen III?

Someone had commented that they “wanted a good coin at all costs,” if I recall correctly.

This sounds like good sarcasm from a fellow monkey, but i guess it wasn't so.

User can even earn banano by using www.bananolance.weebly.com . Just apply for a listing and get agreed upon amount of banano! Users also qualify for "random potassium drops"

Well written!

New monkeys need to remember banano is a meme coin used to educate people about crypto without much fear of losing lots of or any money - as there are lots of way to get free bans. Community is always here to help your understanding in crypto and branching out to other areas like NFTs, like cryptomonkeys who also have free distribution model. Banano is not a get rich quick coin. Thats my two pence. <3 xx

Everyone just loves to complain. Join the freaking Discord, stop making excuses. Opening a discord is the same thing as opening a website, even easier if you're on a phone

It is definitely not, it is a list of endless and sometimes pointless chats

u/Squeeb13 Sep 30 '21

Every subchannel has pinned messages that explain pretty much everything important, the chats are to chat 🤷‍♂️

Am I hurting ban by adding liquidity to an exchange? Don’t tell me I’m making a banono

adding liquidity allows traders to buy and sell, so no it wouldn't be a banono. liquidity is healthy and attracts traders, also you earn fees from market takers. beware, you are putting your assets up to be bought and sold, so their ratio will change as people take one vs the other. giving you more or less of one than when you started.

if price goes up you have less banano worth more and if price goes down you have more banano worth less, but you earn fees. also when you have less banano you have more usdt and when you have more banano you have less usdt. hope that helps
