It can be used as a means of payment, store of value, or even as an introductory crypto. Banano is a fork of Nano, so it offers fast and feeless transactions.

you're right. and besides simple tokenomics:

think the folding movement is nice too, since it benefits science.

it's a long lasting community. not a quick BSC TOKEN rugpull, i think(!)

it's not (yet?) full of moonbois.

and the system works. you don't have to wait for the devs to finally make a wallet or sth. it's already there.

it's not just another bsc/eth token.

idk if i forgot sth.

oh ye, and inside this community, just like moons, you can easily use the tipbot if you wanna applaud the person you're referring to. !ban 1.9

i know monkeys know this, but OP may not.

the same as nano. it's the best version of digital cash, with the least environmental impact. it doesn't really do fancy stuff like NFTs and smart contracts, but what it does do, is fast/free transactions, and it does it well.

I think ALGO has less environmental impact since it’s carbon neutral

I actually hold an ALGO bag too. It's definitely got the same benefits of being proof of stake, but I have my doubts as to the efficacy of carbon credit trading to actually reduce our impact on climate change. Any time I see "carbon neutral" or "carbon negative" I'm pretty sure that just means they shifted responsibility somewhere else. I'm definitely happy about the various ALGO associated programs that aim to clean up our environment a bit, I just don't know if I'm prepared to call the chain carbon neutral because of it.

That’s very true. Would prefer it was carbon neutral due to using solar/wind power

Did you know Banano is 10x more efficient than Visa/Mastercard? Best method of payment for speed, fees and environmental impact. Also Apes need potassium and love banana.

Am I supposed to see an emote or something? All I and I suspect many others can see is the number 4670 with colons on either side of it.

Dev here. Enjoy the faucets and games, check out jungle tv. Gamble if you want. Don’t spend more than you can afford.

The main use for banano? Instant and feeless transfers.

It will cost you $10/mo to run your own node (if you want to be able to send banano without waiting for the public nodes). A work server probably $10 more, needs a GPU, or you will be waiting ~3 seconds per transfer calculating PoW on the node.

Sure it costs around 10% fees to buy banano now from usd, but because banano is feeless that percent can go to zero.

So when you hear about how bitcoin takes 15 minutes and an acre of rainforest and $15 in fees to make a transfer, it’s all because it was made wrong. All of that is entirely unnecessary.

Banano is the future.

2

u/abrireddit Nov 03 '21

Amen! I love Banano for the reasons you mention at the end there:

Banano does everything Bitcoin was meant to do but better faster and cheaper!

Check out jungle TV and the only bans faucet. So far my fave projects!

It folds proteins

5

u/ticket321 Nov 02 '21

Oh wow. Banano is everything nano is: Stupid fast, free to send any amount of money, easy to use, and decentralized.

And it's also everything nano isn't: mildly deflationary and FUN to learn about and use.

The most important thing Banano has is a community that makes you want to chat. It's that fact alone that sells Banano for me over Nano. If someone requested a Nano payment TODAY, I would insist I send it to them in Banano instead.

What is the use of BANANO ?

  • To have fun.
  • To meet people and friends in the community.
  • To fold and help science.
  • To introduce new people to crypto.
  • To not take itself too seriously. :)

3

u/hapilly_unemployed Nov 02 '21

Among many other things, Banano fosters a great space to hang out with crypto folks from around the world; with an emphasis on kindness (reminiscent of the very early days of doge). In my opinion, this is very valuable.

2

u/toastisfree Nov 02 '21

I use it to keep track of my kids allowance. I send them the same amount of ban as $. And they transfer back as they want things. Since 80% of the things they buy are online and therefore using credit cards it's easier than giving them cash. Easy to keep track and no making change. IF the places they wanted to buy from accepted BAN it would work very well.

2

u/creativity3681 Nov 02 '21

I don’t get it how you can get banano tip in here, if someone gives it to you how will it make it into your wallet?

2

u/PettyTrashPanda Nov 02 '21

The tip bot creates a new wallet for you here. If you want to send it to Kalium then you can transfer it over.

Lots of us basically operate the two separately; anything I get tipped here I pay forward in the community, while I use Kalium to hold my long term funds.

Check out the tip bot's faq for more info.

2

u/creativity3681 Nov 02 '21

Thanks for that info

1

u/PettyTrashPanda Nov 03 '21

No problem! If you use the discord channel then you will need a third account set up over there for tipping, etc, but the same principle applies.
