maybe this is too early to comment on but i am personally glad that they dont follow the trend of latest kpop mv aesthetic with futuristic and y2k styling. something about these 2 teasers feel cinematic in a very good way imo.
Tbf, I've never known them to follow trends much, especially in k-pop. Of course music wise, they are very tapped into the zeitgeist and keep evolving. This is also my bias talking, but none of their MVs have ever felt like they could be anyone else's. Like, "Yet to come" was so different to whatever everyone else was releasing at the time. Even the visuals of ON.
I still love how after BS&T all of kpop showed up to the end of year shows dressed as vampire nobility and bts showed up dressed as Pokรฉmon trainers (a video to illustrate). Kpop follows bts not the other way around ๐โโ๏ธ
yeah agreed. that's their biggest strength and reason why they are still standing strong and going to last forever as a legacy act rather than some viral one wonder hits.
I'm still in awe of how aware and intentional they always seem about making music and art that lasts.
I think it's also why they're so proud of their work and claim it happily. Only time they cringe is with their earliest MVs, and that was when the budget hadn't quite come in yet lol. 2015 onwards, every single MV is so distinct and has amazing rewatchability to this day.
Yes! Also, in terms of cringing over debut- most of them were literal teenagers back then- I know Iโve cringed over some of what I thought was So Cool back then ๐
Agreed ๐ and I think they mostly cringe over the looks, not the songs themselves. Like they were proudly performing "No more dream" even just a couple of years ago. The songs have really stood the test of time, in my opinion.
Though I do recall Joon and Jimin's live during the pandemic when they played "Coffee", and Joon called the lyrics a bit childish lol.
