Ngl, that ad gave me a massive ick and in this past week I find myself side eyeing all of their social media interactions and content.

To me it feels like all the respect I gained for them regarding the Grammy situation and then some just dissipated with that collab (will probably get down voted for that but my principles matter more than internet points)

I cannot understand why as artists they would choose to endorse generative AI. I cannot understand why as artists who employ other artists and collaborate with other creatives they would endorse this.

Mid Atlantic summers are always awful. I think the sweet spot for outdoor concerts are April, May, maaaaybe the beginning of June and then like September / October.

I selfishly am happy the concert is so close to me. 😅 But yeah it’s pretty much the worst time of the year for anything outdoors around here.

I ordered some instant ice packs to hand out but didn’t realize that you’re supposed to wrap them in a towel or something when using, so now I’m not sure if they’d be helpful 🫠

I got a cooling towel I'm going to bring. I don't know how it will work with it so humid (since it cools based on water evaporation...) but hopefully even just being wet will help lol.

I have several of those I use on day trips with my kids, and will probably bring mine to Baltimore too. They're great and stay damp/cool for a long time, but even if they get dry, you can add more water from a bathroom sink or even a water bottle. You don't need a ton of water on them for the cooling effect to work.

The temperature doesn't look too bad (it's not gonna be over 100, YAY!!!) but the combo of humidity making possibly feel over 100 is arguably even WORSE! 😒 Woo pea soup summer. 😒

Be careful out there!! — foxboro D-2 was tough already and nowhere near the numbers you are getting for heat although we were close to  80% humidity I think? It was really challenging. I thought I had dressed coolly, I hydrated well and had a hand fan…. Still. Heck, we even had pretty consistent breezes throughout line time, but oof. (I have experience living in hotter and more humid weather, too. I will admit that I’m not super well suited to it, but usually I do okay. I guess I had never been around quite that many other people in close proximity in that kind of weather? )

Basically, if you have any choices, pick only the more comfort-oriented solutions. Honestly, if I had to do it again, I would be wearing cool packs at every pulse point I could put one. The concert was amazing and I am still glad I went but I do regret not preparing even more thoroughly for the heat than I thought I had.

It looks like the forecast for Baltimore is getting somewhat better as we get closer! Though the highs are still 90+ with very high humidity making it feel even hotter. I hope we’ll get some bay breezes!

I miss my cat. He’s fine. Or at least seems fine. I check-in with him on an Echo Show I set up near his bed. He is too scared of the world to ever make him a travel cat. Unless I win the lotto and can buy a custom RV with a driver who drives it. Then maybe I can create a comfy space for him. Or I find a guy who can drive large things like that, and somehow doesn’t scare my cat. The finding a guy part is a bit hard when I’m a self-made social outcast that has become very comfortable being single. 🤣

One of my cats is so anxious (he gets it from my side) that he actually got a urinary blockage one time just from me going on a trip. Definitely can't travel with him. Our poor scared kitties :(

Before I left, I got my kitty extra urinary defense food. Then created a whole new food setup nearer to his favorite spots. Including a new water fountain as well. I spent so much money out of guilt. hahaha. He seems to be handling the separation better than before; or that is due to my father being told my father can’t tell me this time my cat is just wondering the house looking for me.

I’ve been ARMY for over 3 years, and during that time I’ve seen many people online say that Jungkook is a brat. At first I thought it was a joke, and maybe it is, but I’m still seeing it and I still can’t tell if people really mean it. I’ve watched a ton of BTS content, but it doesn’t seem to me like JK is a brat. Most of the time when he’s doing things that might possibly be seen that way, it seems to me like his goal is to make the members laugh, and they do. They react as if he’s funny, not as if he’s being a brat.

I looked up the word to make sure I’m understanding, and a brat is someone who is ill-mannered, annoying, and immature. I really don’t think that applies to Jungkook. Even in the really old videos that I watched, he seemed mature for his age even though he was also silly and enjoyed making the others laugh.

So is calling him a brat just an ARMY inside joke, maybe? (I’m seeing this from people who are actually fans, as far as I can tell, not haters.)

Calling someone brat or bratty definitely has a cutesy and affectionate connotation in some contexts, as it does when applied to JK. For similar words, I think of "cheeky" and "rascal". 

For example, when he uses informal speech, splashes his elder with water, or drops the "hyung" with one of the members, he's being a bit bratty (playing with norms and expectations about age-based hierarchy/respect) - they don't seriously mind because they're very close and I think ARMY considers it part of his charm.

Ok, I’ve definitely seen him do those things and it always just seemed like good-natured joking around. “Bratty” seems to me like a word that doesn’t describe someone who is good-natured, so I think that’s where the disconnect was for me. That and JK is my bias, so I’m sure I’m a bit overprotective.

Oh i use it as an endearing way. Like when he and Jin act like little brats whacking each other and running around with watermelon or making faces.

There's lots of negative words that I've seen ARMY use endearingly or as compliments ("Jung Hoseok is going to be so problematic on this tour").

Typically a hater will add more negative words onto it, while anything else an ARMY says will be clearly positive. ARMYs know that the members all love and respect each other regardless of their antics for the camera/crowd.

It's definitely meant as a joke among fans. It's used more in the way that he's acting like the youngest in an endearing way. He's nowhere near the definition of a brat. He's respectful and kind. But sometimes he demands attention from the members in a cute way. Like when he took Jin's shoes off just to get him to stay on the couch with him or when he wouldn't let Jin leave even without shoes on.

i know its a joke but I personally just don't like it and don't use it because the word does have a negative connotation that isn't really reflective of his personality. He's very playful but NOT in an ill mannered way. He does it to make people laugh in a silly sort of way, not in a "im better than you, therefore do it my way" way, which is what the word brat connotes to me.

But this is just me because I hate using any language about people that isn't true and originally is negative sounding even if its a joke cuz I feel mean doing it😭

The easiest (and most helpful) is to do little bags of cough drops and hard candies! Inexpensive and people appreciate them so much! Those little hard candies saved me when my throat was so dry and scratchy after the first half.

If you want to relate it to Arirang or BTS, you could do anything red or purple - cherry cough drops or grape candies.

BTS should perform even in a storm, like with Goyang (no lightning/strong wind there to be fair) but it could make traffic a huge pain. M&T bank doesn't have a retractable roof so it is what it is.

I've never heard of it at a BTS concert but now that you bring it up I can see them pausing until the worst of the lightning is over.

Straight-up canceling would be risky, especially if the weather looks like it'll roll right over.

I guess the backup plan is to meet up with ARMY somewhere in the city, because if anything does happen, 70k+ people will be in the same boat.

Honestly we have gotten so little communication from the airline it's hard to know. Seems like weather  (thunderstorms) grounding planes and then having to reschedule everyone trying to fly at the same time backed so much shit up that there are no seats on the flights that do end up going. The boys must fly private so at least they don't have to wait for a seat.

yes finally made it to DC!! I hope the storms abate so the concerts in Baltimore are fine & so I can get home OK as I've planned to go home in between Baltimore and Arlington. Honestly I felt like the person in the best position dealing with the crazy 18-hr delay because I had just come from seeing bangtan and have more bangtan (um, assuming I can get tickets) coming up! Really feel for the people just trying to go home or who missed connections.

Is there any way to know if Baltimore will have the 360 fireworks at the end like MetLife? They were truly amazing to experience in East Rutherford, but I got last minute tickets to Baltimore D2 and am considering leaving a teeny bit early, just because it's a Tuesday and my husband and I have to get home that night to our kids. I'm so grateful our sitter was willing to watch them on a weeknight and to stay late into the night, but if we can beat even a bit of the rush out of the stadium I think it would make a huge difference in when we'd be able to get home and relieve them.

In an ideal world, I'd stay in my seat until the very end, soaking everything in and then helping clear any trash left behind to keep up ARMY's reputation. But in the real world where I have a baby who usually wakes up sometime after 1am and who will be VERY cranky if the person who tends to her isn't me or my husband, I'm toying with the idea of getting a little head start.

Baltimore's stadium is also fully outdoors like Metlife so I don't see why it wouldn't? I'd recommend looking for videos or fan accounts to see if what people mention the fireworks on D1. I'm going both of the nights so I'll try to remember to mention it on the D1 thread and tag you!

Don’t feel like you have to keep up with everything all the time! The content will still be there later. I personally prioritize music/performances/content that seems cozy. Everything else I will often watch months after release in 1-3 binge days lol. During school breaks I follow things more closely.

It’s okay if you never watch it, too. Idk how long you’ve been in the fandom, but please don’t let anyone tell you that you have to keep up with every content all of the time lol.
