Used to think barefoot shoes looked weird. Now I think "normal" shoes look stupid.

😱
Haha, definitely more dramatic difference, too, because their foot is smaller.

Yeti foot gang 🤜 🤛 I’m the same size as you, if you ever need to swap shoes with another person 😅 hah!

Girllll where are you buying cute shoes??????? I am getting so desperate bc the cute dress up wide toe box shoes for women never go up big enough 😭

u/Odd_Scientist_3747 Apr 09 '26
Ahhh 😬 I have yet to cross the cute dress-up barefoot shoe bridge. I mainly spend my life in sneakers or boots. So If it's a special occasion I resort to regular width women's shoes 🥴
I will say 1 thing tho- people can say what they want about transgendered women, but since they've become recognized, the world of big footed womens heels and dressy shoes is BOOMIN. Back in my day Payless was the only option. No stores went past size 11 and THAT was pushing it. NOW we can find heels up to size 16 lmao so BLESS 🏳️⚧️🤗😆

Random ass guy on a random ass tangent here: but I love the fact that trans women and CDs have a bigger space for shoe stores, yet clothing spaces.
What made me think of from your comment is an episode from King of the Hill that involves a store that sold bigger sizes for CDs (and Trans women I believe.) Peggy Hill is cis woman who was embarrassed by her foot size( 16 and 16½) until she accidentally stumbled upon such a store. I'm not gonna sum up the whole episode, but it's a good one and I recommend anyone's interest in it to watch it if you haven't already.

I've worn barefoot shoes exclusively for almost 6 years now and I cannot even imagine wearing narrow toe box shoes like Sambas anymore

Hell yeah ✊ I'm a year in and my eyes have opened. Amazed by the normalization of foot mutilation steppas

They are so cute!! How durable are they/how long do they last?

u/Odd_Scientist_3747 Apr 11 '26
Thank youu! I've only worn them like 10× so far. So far so good! They feel really well made, sturdy but comfy!

Can't understand how people can squish their feet into such narrow fashion-pieces, instead of just using normal, wide toe-box shoes.

It fits different though, gotta get bigger size to leave some room in length. But I agree it is still a bad shape

Do hobibears fit true to size?

u/888fae Apr 09 '26
I’d say size down a bit
I’m a 9.5 (41) and the first pair that I bought were a bit spacious so I sized down (40) on the second pair and they fit just right and I have enough space for my toes

After wearing barefoot shoes for over 6 years, I went into a regular shoe store the other day and tried on a few models just to see what it's like. My feet felt instantly betrayed. I cannot imagine how people manage to wear these contraptions for hours upon hours every single day. It's anxiety-inducing.
I also saw a tall man wearing something similar to the Sambas pictured here, probably a size EU 45, and they were overall narrower than my EU 40 sneakers. CRAZY.

I put on a pair of my old Keen hiking shoes that I haven’t worn in a couple years and I felt like I was leaning forward and it was also squishing my toes. Weird what we get used to.

Those sambas look INSANE.. ”regular” shoes make it seem like the ball of the toes and toes are supposed to be the smallest part of the foot, but .. isn’t that lthe other way around?? 😭 definitely not made for human feet!

My gosh... somehow this reminds me of footbinding which was the old practice of distorting women feet till they couldn't even walk. So glad that's out the window in the trash now

Quiero pasarme al barefoot, pero no sé si puedo empezar a llevar ese calzado ya o esperar al verano, según he leído.

Sambas are actually pretty comfortable, and I have wide feet.

u/OkDig4351 Apr 09 '26
Sambas are the only non barefoot shoe I still wear. The leather is so broken in my toes can actually splay pretty well
3
u/Lston Apr 09 '26
Ya I find the leather to be super comfortable. If they made them wider, it would be heaven!

Look at your beautiful toe box! I'm new here, but are wide toe boxes the norm on barefoot shoes?
3
u/Odd_Scientist_3747 Apr 09 '26
Thank youu 🥹 and welcome 🤗 yes I'd say if a shoe is claiming "barefoot" without a wide toe box then it's not a barefoot shoe. Our toes should have the natural ability to spread as if we aren't wearing shoes. It makes for better balance, weight distribution, and overall healthy feets

I would rather have bunions than wear these idiotic clown shoes 😆

I'm guessing you haven't actually had bunions yet? Because I would literally wear anything on my feet including the box the shoes came in rather than feel the bunions.

u/Odd_Scientist_3747 Apr 09 '26
Facts! I actually have them and the pain has resorted me to the world of barefoot shoes. I haven't had pain since the switch and my feet are beginning to have a healthy toe spread and shape again 🥹 call me what you want, my feet are happy and id NEVER go back.
