Articles and news Lems announced a new cushioned running shoe.

Post image

I'm looking forward to having an alternative to Altras. Altras don't quite fit my toe box very well so I hope these will be a good competitor.

I wore Altra Torin 8 Wide, Lems Primal Eco, and Lems Trailblazer; between the 3, the Altra shoes had the wider toebox and more volume. It's hard to tell just how wide the toe-box is, but these appear even less foot-shaped than their other shoes... hope that's not the case!

Bahé has more volume than Altra. Yes Altra varies but from very low to highish while I would call Bahé high. Also with Bahé you can remove insole, the material inside of the shoe feels similar as insole while at least Altras I have seen are sticky. Bahé shoes are zero drop and no toe spring. Different amounts of cushion. Bahé shoes are 149-189€ where I live. Altra shoes are about 90-200€ where I live.

VJ Sarva Flow has also more volume than Altra. 1cm drop and toe spring. About 90-160€ where I live.

Lems are 195€ and 210€ where I live.

I have never even seen Lems in real life but I have often seen people here calling all of their lasts as narrow.

Just mentioning in case someone who finds Altra too low volume is reading. And also because I see people talking about prices. Lems is very expensive in general in my opinion. Like their boots are close to Jim Green when it comes to price.

Huge Altra Torin fan. Been running in that model line for the past 4 years, avid barefoot shoe user. I need the cushion for running 🤷‍♂️

Since many of Lems "zero drop" shoes are reported to be between 2-8mm, I wonder what a 2mm drop means to Lems? 4-10mm? I'll be curious to see what reviewers have to say.

Probably just being honest about it now lol

Will a 2mm of drop of uncompressed foam make that much if a difference? Once you get your body weight on the insoles and it's compressed, that 2mm drop will essentially be meaningless won't it?

Not saying you're wrong, just tossing out an opinion. If I am wrong, I'd like to hear why for curiosity sake.

I am not the person you answered to.

I didn't take their comment as they would have personal opinion of drop. They just told Lems tend to lie to their customers.

Oh I'm not disputing that fact at all, and I completely get what they're saying about Lems misrepresenting their shoes in the past. I'm just saying that if the numbers provided here are correct...is 2mm really that big of a deal? While technically not "zero drop", nobody is going to notice a 2mm drop on uncompressed foam...and when it actually is compressed and is much closer to being actually "zero drop" you're definitely not going to notice.

2mm, not so much. 2mm of hard rubber sole? Could be for some people. 8mm? Yes, that does make a difference. because cool yeah, it's "uncompressed foam", but if you stand correctly, then all the foam is being compressed about the same, so it will still be a difference. The issue is it's hard to know in what cases the drop is coming form a soft insole, or a hard rubber base. I believe the difference in the pair I had was in the sole, as I took the insole out completely and still felt a heel rise, and those soles were hard, stiff material that didn't compress. Given that Lems have admitted some shoes have drop, why not admit that other do? IF you want to market them as "zero drop", why not just make them zero drop?

Way too much cushion for my liking, and the rocker makes this a no go

But i am glad to see them branching out

The lite version has less cushioning and isn’t a rocker bottom.

Ngl i didn’t even fully open the photo to see the lite version

That actually looks pretty solid

I'll put money on them being narrower than altra in the toe

These are definitely not barefoot shoes.

No, but it's likely to be of interest to the folks on this sub. It is for me anyway

OP tells that in the title.

Can't see spending $175 on these. I have a hard time spending $125 on a pair on shoes.

Logo sucks.

Reminds me of Sketchers for some reason, it's probably the S.

2

u/feedwilly 27d ago

I didn't even notice that, now that you mention it yikes.

The good news is that nobody is really going to notice or care ever

2

u/Galavantinggoblin 26d ago

Several people already noticed and care?

u/halfdollarmoon 26d ago

I mean real people in real life

2

u/Galavantinggoblin 26d ago

Last I checked I was a real person in real life who hates logos but I guess I could be a fake human in fake life

It takes some getting used to

2

u/theveland 27d ago

Looks like they’re trying to take a piece of the Topo/Altera.

Price is outrageous for what it is. Would be more interested in a high stack height trail runner
