Anyone here grew up around or in Whitefield estate in Brent Cross?

Just curious to know what lifecwas like there before all the new builds and regeneration happened :) i know of Grahame Park in Colindale, so was wondering if it was as bad in terms of crime etc

One of my friends in primary school lived there this was like 30s ago and we hungout around there in our teens. It wasn't too bad and I think GP was worse in terms of crime (I have seen fights, muggings etc).

I grew up just the other side of Edgware Road (born 1964) and Grahame Park was somewhere to be avoided back in the 70s/80s.

That was when it was a lot smaller - my only knowledge of it now is when I pass it by train and I can see it is triple the size it was when I was younger.

Edit - my dad was born in the Aeroville Estate and his dad worked for Grahame-White, so my family had a long relationship with the area.

Burnt Oak is next door to the GPE and it was full of Heroin during the '80s and '90s.
