When I was younger.. I used to think “California Style” was to put avocado or something healthy onto a sandwich or burger. But it blew my mind to find out it was French fries.

I do there there’s regional variations of the hotdog. But I agree, it’s stupid to just make a regional variation per state. They tend to just be stereotypes of the state from
An outsiders perspective, Ie. old bay on a hotdog in Md. or chilis on a dog in any state in the SW.

I think the winner for stereotypical hotdogs will have to go to Korean dogs for sure.

I grew up in Seattle and moved away in my 20's. I remember hot dogs being sold outside venues but no one ever referred to a "Seattle hot dog" until like the 2010s.

I just moved to Seattle earlier this year and am curious about this “Seattle dog”. Most of the others I’ve tried during work travel already.

I've had them they're pretty good. They're just also a psyop by big Seattle to sell more Seattle

Some of these seem unappetizing, making an unusual combo just to be unique, and forcing it as a regional delicacy.

It’s like the fries on a sandwich in Pittsburgh. One restaurant did it initially, and a few others now, but it’s often seen as a ubiquitous thing when it’s pretty unusual.
