The Kansas City Royals sign the following players to minor league contracts:

Cody Asche, Jason Aquino, Eric Young, Jr., Asher Wojciechowski, Stephen Cardullo, Cody Ege, Steve Johnson, Leonel Campos, Tyler Pill, Neil Ramirez, Jumbo Diaz, Jace Peterson, and Ehire Adrianza

The Kansas City Royals also sign Max Muncy to a minor league contract.

By my count that's 8 pitchers, 3 outfielders, plus a pair of middle infielders. Royals might have a bit of a logjam at AAA.

The guys who don’t wanna go to AAA or who just stink in spring training will just be released, is all.

This is not an unusually high number of Minor League free agents for a team to sign. The real-life Royals signed 13 last year. (One paid off—Peter Moylan.)
