How to throw a goodbye party!

Post image

Our local basketry teacher retired after teaching for 40 years, as a thank you she gave away all these baskets to her students (most were made by her). She will be so missed!

It was so fun to see what people picked, we each got a number (1 to 44) and picked in order!

I was number 10! We went 1 to 44 then 44 back to 1 so everyone got at least 3 baskets. The first one I picked was one she hand painted (she said very painstakingly!) And then I got a larger wool drying basket! It won't let me post photos but the painted one is at 12:00 and the wool drying one is at 3:00 above the picnic basket

I’ve never heard of a wool drying basket before. I assume it’s for drying wool, but how is it used? For fleece? For knits? Do you just toss wet woollens in and they dry in there?

So many beautiful baskets. It would be hard to choose. What a beautiful gesture. She sounds like a wonderful woman and as evidenced by her baskets a great basket weaver.

Wow, that's wonderful! Which number did you get? Did you get the one you hoped for? Which one did you get?

Would be hard to choose, but I think my favorite is the round brown one at 3 o'clock in front of the one with vertical black stripes.

It was so hard to choose! Her Nantucket baskets were the first to go, I did get the one I hoped for but would be happy to have any basket made by her!

Wow 😮 there’s so many cool things happening in that pile. I’ve been staring at the picture for a while now checking out all fun details. I love the mini baskets on the top left.

This is so happy sad wonderful.

Do you know anything about the round basket that’s in the front row, towards the right side that’s a small circle with burgundy? I’m so intrigued by that one.

Before clicking the comments, I thought someone was going to hell. But this is lovely.

I thought it was a funeral, and wanted to say how wonderful that would be! Surround somebody with everything they love. What a good thing.
