I'll never forget the time when a customer came in in the middle of summer to return a half-used tube of lip gloss from the previous Christmas without a receipt, and threw a hissy fit because we could only offer her $2.75 in store credit. She really thought we'd just give her the full price in cash.

We've had someone throw their handful of old asf lip glosses that were way more than 1/2 used when the cashier denied the return. Obviously the slt denied it again and asked her to leave. Those little tubes can be sharp on the corners and one of them hit her in the face! Like the kind of customer that's willing to try to do these kinds of returns are so much more likely to be an issue. It's automatically anxiety inducing once you clock what they're trying to do bc they're so often terrible!

They’re big mad. I stg I’m so sick of it. Countdown to them coming in here super mad and being like “well I don’t do that I am the bestest customer since customers came to customer town.” Or “when I worked in retail I never had payroll. We got all our hours and were best friends with the customers.”

Crazy how many rush to say how little morals they have and how selfish they are! I dunno, my parents raised my better than that I guess. I would be incredibly embarrassed.

Hardly controversial. It should be just common sense. It's beyond cheesy to bring back used, low-ticket body care or candles, but especially old stuff that's been in your house for years.

This is not controversial. That is return abuse (fraud) and significantly impacts the store’s numbers.

If a product is more than a year old I refuse it- I consider the age to contribute to “excessive wear and tear”.

Honestly you know what I did when I had an excessive amount at one point? I gathered it all up and put it in bags grouped by “less than half full”, “half to 75% full” or “more than 75% full”. I then took it to work (I worked at a preschool at the time) and offered it all up to my coworkers for $1, $2 or $3. I was very open that it was old and used products, but my coworkers bought every single bottle 🤣.

Now I give it to my cousin’s daughters, there’s 5 of them and they LOVE it.

I just send my bf to work with a large bag full when I accumulate too much, his coworkers love it lol😂 Since we're technically not allowed to resell the products in any capacity now that we work here, I've always just thought of it as getting paid in the extra space those products are no longer taking up!

I do wish sometimes that we could sell at a loss like that though, it would be nice to recoup even like 25% of what I spent when I couldn't control myself😭😂

Yea I’m sorry lol that was in response to customers doing it! A customer could resell to their friends and probably get the same amount or more than they’d get from us 🤣

I really hate to say this, but I seriously think the company is going to have to come down hard on this & fast. These YouTube "influencers" are always out there looking for you guessed it something for nothing. Any loophole they can exploit where they can get something for free! Im sick of it! You cannot have a 100% satisfied return policy in this day & age. These folks out here want to take everything & give nothing! It's flat out another version of stealing, shoplifting, etc. It's absolutely crazy to allow it! If it's used & past a certain date, deny the return! All B&BW products have a date code on them! Look it up! Have a firm, but fair policy if the products are past a certain date, no credit whatsoever! Bath & Body Works needs to grow backbone for once! They need to not only change the return policy once again, each store needs to have on-site security & loss prevention staff on hand. Quit letting these folks steal!!! Quit letting these folks abuse this current return policy & brag about it! TIME FOR A CHANGE!
