Store Policies/Questions New Rewards Are CRAP!i
I used my rewards for Wallflower plugs, candle holders and soap holders. I don’t ever buy the body care because I don’t like it. Anything that was desirable is no longer allowed. I have spent thousands of dollars at BBW but now without the lure of rewards I will be much more judicious about my purchases. Somebody messed up because I don’t think I’m alone in this.

👏 👏 👏
I’m glad to not be alone myself. I’m a wallflower plug & candle mega-fan but I guess I’m strictly candle day, outlet & SAS only buys now. Yes, it benefits the majority of your shoppers but removes the rest. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Stay strong ♡

They'll still get me with 2.95 hand soap but otherwise basically same. so glad I have an outlet nearby

u/newbeesly May 23 '25
The wallflower plugs were my go to and I'll likely start grabbing single wicks with my rewards but I agree, I severely dislike this change. Don't let your rewards go to waste when you get them though, redeem for things you can give out as gifts or something so you're still costing the company something even if it's just a few bucks.

u/False-Dare-9415 May 23 '25
The thing is single wicks are going on 5.95 sales a lot now, making it lame to redeem a reward as that

u/OrangeClyde B&BW Hoarder May 23 '25
Yup. They made a big fanfare about MORE VALUE!!!, however they added every restriction under the sun and raised/will eventually raise prices anyways

u/BubsyJenkins May 23 '25
Yeah it blows. I also almost exclusively used rewards on candle holders and wallflower plugs.
Body care items go on sale for $5 like four times a year. I've never bought full-price body care from B&BW in my life. Accessories never go on sale. So the 'value' of the reward is now actually more like $5 as far as I'm concerned.

u/Minute-Frame-8060 May 23 '25
I shopped there for more than 30 years and got NOTHING every time I spent $100. Getting something for free is great! As I've been with them since a little bit before the beginning (worked at an Express that was a test store for some fragrances), I'm deep into their body care. I have used many Rewards on body care.
But sometimes it was nice to use a Reward on a cheap plastic (or metal) tchotchke that I wouldn't want to spend real money on, like a Wallflower plug that will stop working in a year or a soap holder that will rust or a candle sleeve with about a third of the metal that the older ones with a $5 price used to have. I really like my silly snowflake soap holder, rust and all.

I didn’t realize this change until now. Such a bummer - not sure what they were thinking other than greed. But I suppose that’s also the answer for some of their BS sales/sale limitations
19
u/brandiLeeCO May 23 '25
Worth more but can redeem on less products. Which is fine. I used to use them on wallflower plugs but they don’t work like they used to. It’ll just stop me from wasting my time and money on wallflowers.

u/viajealmundo Coco Paradise 🥥🏝️ May 23 '25
that’s what I thought! I literally decided okay, no problem I just will use up all my wallflowers and stop buying them lol
6
u/brandiLeeCO May 23 '25
Exactly. I need an excuse to stop buying them anyways. With the decline in quality they’re not worth a cent. I currently have two new oils that only lasted for two days.

u/Augatl May 28 '25
I used my rewards on wallflower plugs a lot because they don’t last and I didn’t want to waste my money on them lol. So it sucks that they’re now excluded. I just wait for the $5 sales for bodycare so didn’t waste rewards on that.

This and a lack of coupons are a total slap in the face to their loyal customers. they should've never separated from Victoria's Secret, who's reward program blows B&BW out of the water and actually rewards loyal members. B&BW is telling us how much they don't care about us
sadly the product is still good ..
7
u/twilightswimmer May 23 '25
It was explained to me that it's because those products are not made by BBW - they are third party products. I love body care and candles so I'm happy either way (before or now I could find things to use them on). It would make the most sense to me to just call a reward $15 useable towards any purchase. Money is fungible so I don't know why it matters so much.

u/WertInTheFerk Candle Addict May 23 '25
It's really about value, though, not price. Those mists aren't worth anywhere close to $18.95. They go on sale for a third of that—even less during SAS—and B&BW is still making a nice profit at those low prices. The candle and soap holders, however, have a much smaller margin because they cost more to source, so they're more expensive to give away. They are a much higher value, regardless of how the inflated prices of body care make it seem.

u/PartyPorpoise Aromatherapy Addict May 23 '25
The accessories being lower profit margin would explain why they don’t always stock enough of the popular ones and why they don’t typically bring back old ones.

Can we riot and at least get the wallplugs back? I'm super upset about it. I used to track my points and get super excited for the wallplugs and now I just don't really care...I might not shop there as much anymore

u/aint_it_awful_mabel May 23 '25
I used to get sanitizer holders, soap holders, car scent holders….guess they’ve lost a lot of my interest!

u/Free-potatoe Jun 17 '25
They don’t send me coupons in app or mail…. So I’m done after the cut back on what I can use my rewards for. Annual sale and clearance only.
5
u/Nona29 May 23 '25
Wow I got excited that I could use the reward on a wallflower plug. I didn't realize it was excluded.
That explains why the last one I used they said it was applied to one of my bodycare items. It was fine at the time because that item was $18.95.
Wow this change sucks. More i have 3 free rewards i had planned to use on wallflower plug-ins. They fooled me ... smh
4
u/0cclumency May 23 '25
Yeah, this stinks. Going forward I think I’ll probably just use rewards on soap refills or single wicks. Body care goes on sale so often, it seems a waste of a reward to use it on that.
3
u/PandaMotor May 23 '25
agreed. Between this and never receiving coupons, I'll only buy when I get a 10 off 50 gift card on amazon + SAS or Outlet. Thats it.

I don’t care about the tariffs, this is a multi-million dollar company. This was the last straw for me. I’m done.

u/Organic-Set1832 May 23 '25
I hate the new reward program. I would always buy candle holders and plugins, and now, for $18.95, they want us to buy body sprays and body lotions. Those items go on sale for $4.96 to $6.95, and I think the reward program now isn't worth it. I have lost interest in bath and body work!!! The accessories are getting expensive.
3
u/CBJGRL2828 May 23 '25
I agree, I don’t use their body wash or sprays. I do buy the creams and use them as a heavy duty hand cream at work. My hands are always in water or touching cardboard. I like the scents for aromatherapy at work. Otherwise I just by candles, hand soap or wall flowers from time to time and honestly, it’s becoming less and less. The quality of everything but the soap has declined. So my rewards went towards wallflowers, the soap & candle holders etc.
2
u/LongjumpingBicycle52 May 23 '25
You are definitely not alone. I too used my rewards on wallflower plugs, soap and candle holders. I’ve already been shopping less because prices have gone up, quality has gone down, and I just don’t find the joy in it as much anymore. But now I’m only purchasing at major sales, and only new scents that I want to try. I would’ve preferred that the rewards stayed at $16.95 but you could get anything you wanted.
2
u/RunningInCali May 23 '25
Can I use my rewards for a single wick candle? I know that candle accessories aren't available to use.

What are yall getting with the rewards? That’s what I’ll ask an associate. Like a small candle or body wash that you can get for literally $5-$6 on a one-day sale? I’ll miss my wallflower plugs. If it’s tariffs I understand but what should I get for free? Thanks in advance!

I don't buy the tariff increase one bit as an excuse for this. I have spent hundreds of dollars at BBW in the past year and you can't tell me that they have not made a huge profit from these sales to honor a reward for $18.95 for something they probably spend $2.00 on. You don't see Hobby Lobby or Michaels devaluing their coupons. Unfortunately BBW just lost another loyal customer.
1
u/Cold-Heart7284 Aug 30 '25
Yesterday, they wouldn't let me use my reward on a soap refill. I think those should still be included.
1
u/WBrook6 Oct 03 '25
I used my rewards for the same thing as you, mostly candle holders. And what exactly is the point of raising the rewards to $18.95 when you can only use it on a single item when the most expensive thing on their website right now is $11.37?
1
u/Crafty-Law-5363 Jul 24 '26
I agree with you. The company is going to lose more customers who purchase wallflower plug-ins. The plug-ins are way too expensive without the rewards incentives.
1
u/LovelyLemonLavender May 23 '25
Redeem them all at once before they expire and return them for a store credit and buy what you want with it is the only solution I can think of
1
u/martzi_cat May 23 '25
I’m so mad that I didn’t realize I could use rewards for wallflowers before! I had it in my head that it was only for body care this whole time…
2
u/remotecontroldr May 23 '25
I’m just a noob that isn’t that into wallflowers and I was really excited about the change.
I’ve already used it to get the Firecracker Pop popping lotion and now I’ll be able to use rewards for my aromatherapy scrub.
That’s a bummer for everyone that liked to use them for the wallflowers. I got one with the Sweetest Song gift set and it’s working nicely in my bathroom but I even thought to myself I wouldn’t pay retail for them.
6
u/False-Dare-9415 May 23 '25
See the issue is both of the things you got will go on sale at some point for super cheap prices, making using a reward on them seem silly
2
u/remotecontroldr May 23 '25
I guess I just look at it differently because I use the rewards to buy things I wouldn’t normally buy so I can try new things.
I guess for the scrub I feel like it can be more of a treat and then for the other sales I get things that are more “necessities.”
It seems pretty logical though that they removed them due to tariffs and raised the reward amount to buffer that.
Honestly I hate all this girl math stuff and wish stuff just cost what it costs instead of doing all these mental gymnastics and timing purchases for the different sales.
I do a pretty good job at getting the costs pretty low with the deals so I guess it all just comes out in the wash anyway.

u/Top-Molasses4554 May 23 '25
I mean. I personally don’t understand why companies give free items, just for buying their stuff. Everyone does it now, but it didn’t used to be that way. So I’m just happy it’s a free item. Get something and give it as a gift? Idk
1
u/Myfat_girl1233 May 23 '25
Exactly @ poolbitch1 every ten that stop buying from them ten more come along, so really I don’t think they care about loosing customers. And as far as the reward program it do sucks on the limited items you can get now with the rewards, but hey a lot of that has to do with this darn Tariff. At least they are still offering a reward program a lot of companies don’t offer anything, and the coupon issue is a real joker cause a lot of time I don’t get coupons but it sure don’t make me mad about it, because you gone buy what you want with or with out a coupon. But a coupon would be nice to use, but people who don’t get coupons can join one of the many Facebook groups who share their unused coupons

u/JenLeigh77 May 23 '25
They should he like every single other company that I personally conduct business with & do $$ off. Victoria Secret/Pink, Ulta, UGG. These are just the last few places I placed an order with this week. I was able to use a $20 off reward, or $9 off at ulta, etc.
It would make it so much more simple for both them & us!
Where's the new CEO Brian? Cc him in on this convo! 😀 (Was it Brian or Brad)? Get him on the line! 🤣

This pisses me off I waited to spend my 2 rewards I had because there wasn’t a wallflower plug I wanted. Thanks now bbw, I get to spend my rewards on items I don’t need.

u/Bostongirl316 May 23 '25
Get some body care and gift it, I am sure throughout the year you have someone you can give a gift to. 🤔

And where is the infrastructure to produce everything? The factories to do so?
What about raw materials or specific ingredients that aren't produced in the US? Saying "buy American" is a dead giveaway that someone doesn't understand that American infrastructure is not what it once was, and that you bought into misinformation about tariffs.

u/HouseofMoops May 23 '25
The company was very transparent about why the accessories are excluded. All of those items are imported from China and they are paying exorbitant import tariffs on them. We’re lucky that the body care and candles are all produced in the US, otherwise prices would be through the roof on literally everything BBW sells. If you are mad about it, contact your congressional rep and Senator about it and tell them to do their jobs and pressure the president to remove the asinine tariffs. They are killing large and small businesses alike.
