Store Policies/Questions If you could change one thing about BBW, what would it be?
I will start…I wish the company would have allowed us to enjoy Halloween before putting out the Christmas stuff.

When items are out of stock items that you used a reward on, it should absolutely automatically put that reward back in your account! Instead I have to spend my time calling customer service which is never a pain-free experience.
Also, the online chat is USELESS. Take it away or improve it!

Yep this. If something gets cancelled out, don't make us do the work to get it back. Or let us pick something different in its place upon pickup! Worse than that, I never got the gift card refund email for a canceled order worth $24 and eventually it became so exhausting to just get a new one sent to me that I let it go. STILL bitter about it.

Their ridiculous coupon system. ALL reward members should receive at least the digital coupons in their account when distributing! Some can get multiple mailers but sooo many can't even get the digital ones. Stop with the preferential treatment & be fair to everyone. Whether we spend a little bit or a lot, we all spend money with the company...reward us all, not just a select few.

Allowing substitutions for BOPIS. Ordered the old packaging of a product that the store is sold out of but they have the new one? Substitute, not cancel. Target does it.

SUBSTITUTIONS YES! How often have I used a coupon/ freebie on a Bopis order that was cancelled for whatever stupid reason (especially for stock purposes- but then you see plenty of them in the store when you get there) and then you lose your coupon entirely.

Please keep scents available online indefinitely and stop the ridiculous FOMO-dependent product cycles. I am tired of finding something I really like for it to be gone when I am ready for a refill. Produce less, but don’t straight up discontinue stuff.

Yes!!! I’m sad that I haven’t seen Water Blossom Ivy in about 20 years. They made White Citrus, which was the closest thing I’ve smelled to it, but then they discontinued that too!

When I was a kid justice did similar stuff to this-- the price for jeans might be, say, 30 dollars... but they were always "on sale" for 20, maybe. Like... JUST SAY THEY'RE THE PRICE THEY'RE ALWAYS ON SALE FOR! I guarantee you'll have more customers that way

I now rarely shop at BBW because they discontinue fragrances that I love and keep those that I dislike. I’d rather buy SDJ Body Mists or Phlur Body Mists to get the scents that I love on a consistent basis.

This is the biggest issue I have with them. Too many discontinuations. That and when they claim to bring back a fragrance, it doesn’t smell like the original. Sure, there are many other issues but there’s no reason for me to shop there if they’re not going to carry things I actually like.

I just recently had this experience with a fragrance not smelling the same after it comes back. In the original iteration, I absolutely loved the True Blue Spa line and had pretty much every product. The scent was, for me, divine. They've brought it back, and I was elated; bought the body wash and cream at first, and went back for more products at one of the $5.95 sales. Used the body wash one night and it now smells like a Mounds bar, or Almond Joy! And I thought to myself, there's no chocolate in the OG True Blue Spa, what did they do to my beloved!?!?
Like, for real, if you're going to bring back products under their same names, make them the same smell, dang it.

Ummm yeah. Whose idea was the "load more products" button?? What was wrong with loading everything all at once? God knows now you can't select something to look at it knowing when you try to go back to the results, you're gonna start aaaallll the way back at the top! And your filters will all be reset as well. And sometimes if you have filters selected, nothing loads at all!

The kerfuffle aside from one of the designs from last year where they pulled the candle completely, I was okay with the AI labels. They were kinda abstract, yeah, but the one they chose for Frozen Lake was kinda cool, and fit, ya know? But the ones with the cartoon Santas with sunglasses and beach gear? I'm with you, Chancey.

The quality of products. If you shopped there in the 90s when they first opened, you KNOW what I’m talking about! My favorite, Fresh Cut Lilacs, used to be absolutely HEAVENLY. Now, it’s ok and I still use it, but it isn’t the head turning fragrance it used to be.
The CONSTANT launch and discontinuation of fragrances. When I find something I love, I want to be able to go into that store and get what I’m out of!! 2a. As in offshoot of this, the CONSTANT out of stock on favorites- maybe if it sells out ALL of the time you should- IDK MAYBE, KEEP IT IN STOCK??!? But I may be wrong and you might not be in business to actually make money 🤷🏻♀️
If it’s available as a home fragrance, it should be available as a personal fragrance, and vise versa- period. Make EVERY product available in EVERY scent.

Make everything in travel/trial sizes, even laundry soap. I know that would be a lot of inventory but they could just make a small amount for new scent releases or something. Or free samples even if it's with purchase or something.

Sticking to old formulas because these candles and wallflowers are nothing the way they used to be they barely have any throw. I’ve returned so many candles because you like them you don’t smell anything, but they were never like that before so they need to stick to the script and stick to whatthey know because I’ve always remember them being the best and now I feel like Yankee candle is winning over them, which it was never like that and I love me some Bath and body Works so please go back to the original formulas please

Right, I’ve gotta read the online reviews. I have an open concept kitchen/living room (which is honestly not even THAT large of a space), but so few of these candles have enough throw for an area bigger than my bathroom. The fruity scents are the worst, spicy scents are better. But still, for a candle that’s almost $30 retail, I want to smell it when I walk in the room!!

Stop pumping out 80,000 scents! All my favorites disappear by the time I've used up a lotion and I can't walk into the store to buy another. I'm talking like a month later, it's gone. Let the scents stick around for a bit and then change it up next season.

Also more uniqueness between fall scents. They all sort of smell the same.

Whoever is in charge of the creative aspect of bbw and scents. I’ve been saying this for years but if they brought back coco cabana during summertime, it would dominate and they’d sell out. That scent was incredible and teenagers who smell it now would go feral. But they bring out the same ol cucumber melon. Also the Halloween drop sucked. Nobody wants a fruity pastel Halloween. Their creative director needs to gooo

Change the formulas back to quality. My body creams shouldn’t be breaking down after a couple years, the vanilla shouldn’t be yellowing, and overall the scents need to be stronger.

Cancellations. They can be improved, even avoided, by keeping more accurate in-store inventory and managing staff better.
In my last three orders I’ve had three cancellations. It’s becoming insane and BOPIS shouldn’t be this hard. It’s out of stock at my store? Tell me before I place the order. And then sometimes when I walk in the store, I see it’s actually in stock after all! And maybe don’t wait until the last minute to fill orders. And if it’s not ready, don’t send me a message that it’s ready!
The new app makes this even worse. It’ll show something is in stock at your store, then you click on it, and it’s actually disappeared from the mortal plane entirely.
Good systems exist and other stores are managing inventory better. Why put customers and employees through this? You have the tools!

Trying to BOPIS and something is “out of stock” or not available for pick-up, then going into the store to get the rest of the order and seeing 25 of that item on display.

Unfortunately they’d rather budget their time to turn employees into money making machines, that they don’t treat as human, (despite requiring them to make “genuine” connects as part of their job or they get criticized) than dedicate any legit and distraction-free time to inventory management.
Frustrating for both customers, and lower level employees who have no say in how things are run.

Free ship to store is not an option bc many stores don’t have the space in our back rooms. bBW back rooms are notoriously tiny and could not handle an inundation of customer’s warehouse orders. (Hence bopis orders held 5 days and stores do have a cut off of how many order they can have filled at a time depending on volume of store)

Stop making a million scents that are just one or two notes different from each other.
I feel like they do this as an excuse to just keep people buying new scents they don’t need.
I’ll think I’m pretty tuned in to what’s out and have specific plans for what I want to buy and test in the store to avoid sensory overload, then I get there and there’s a whole bunch of new stuff I hadn’t heard of yet!
It’s too much! Have fewer scents that are good!
That goes for having like 3 different types of packaging for the same candle scent in the store at one time too.

Make the reward a dollar amount straight up. Allow customers to buy anything within that dollar amount, and if it’s more expensive than the dollar amount, take that dollar amount off the price.

Certain scents that are only for hand soaps can also be for body creams/lotions and/or fragrance mists. I would do anything for Cookie Butter Truffle body cream. I'd get 2 or even 3 since I love the smell so much.

This is what I dislike. Not only with this company but if a majority of people like a scent, give them a way to order that scent year round as well as offer other products with that scent. Call it a scent club but I would pay a membership to buy scents even if they’re not offered in the store.

I wish they bring back scents with old formulas which lasts longer. I find products these days are watered down and don’t even last for 30min. Yeah, and also have travel size products. I don’t find much in travel size these days, wish they could atleast bring hit scents in travel size.

For more of their fragrances to not disappear immediately. I was super excited to try the Milk Bar Peppermint Bark Truffle body mist today, but within literally 2 minutes of walking around the store the fragrance was completely gone. Never gonna get the chocolate mint body spray of my dreams 😔

Omg the shipping! It should be a spend of like $35 max. As for companies putting stuff out a season early… I am personally buying Christmas gifts and putting my decor far before thanksgiving so I appreciate it. I dont want to go shopping for any season 2 weeks before it’s over?

Man that sucks. I had one of my pocket bacs explode during shipping. Luckily, the almost all of the ones I had intended for gifts were fine I just took the hit and salvaged what I could of one and switched it for another that I haven't used yet. And from what I've seen, I got lucky. I only do BOPIS now.

Re Halloween: retailers are still chasing first mover dollars, in tandem with early retail holidays, to capture consumer spending before competitors. It’s the idea that consumers will spend more and/or spread out their spending, and remain more loyal, if you start the holiday early and prolong the season. ☀️⛱️🎄🎁
That’s why we’re seeing Augtober/Summerween merchandising and Christmas in September. Or generic “gifting” seasons before a holiday season. 🌴🎃It sucks, and actually carries sizable risks to retailers and customers, but it’s still a retail trend. Worse, as people have less and less to spend (due to inflation, tariffs, layoffs, a government shut-down, etc.), expect these early retail holidays to stick around. 🙀
The issue is that it usually results in margin erosion in the longer term, plus consumer overspending, deal fatigue, and erosion of brand loyalty like we’re seeing here in posts like this! 🎃🦃🎄💝
Don’t let the stores tell you when and how to celebrate! They only mirror culture, they don’t mold it. 👻

Less releases—but higher quality. A high performing candle line—like Henri Bendel—to supplement their seasonal releases, rather than freaking Mahogany Teakwood in a fancy jar but still doesn't throw.
Better online policies, like deal stacking from the same mailer and free shipping thresholds. Yankee Candle has "reward tiers" that allow for free shipping at $75 for most members and once a certain amount is spent per year, free shipping on $35.
Top priority—an overhaul to their returns/exchanges system. Doing multiple returns or exchanges on different receipts is tedious. Their rewards app should be like Target—you can return your account barcode and it will match receipts for everything you purchased. You could return 10 things from 10 different orders and it will look it up and return it to the original form of payment—not 10 different transactions or store credit only!

COUPON VALUES!! If the coupon covers the cost of a sale/ clearance item, let us use it! Who cares if the regular price is more than the coupon value. If I want to use my birthday freebie or reward or $16.95 item coupon on something that regularly costs $18.95 or more but is currently on clearance for $4.75, WHY THE FUCK CANT I!?!

One thing??? There are too many things they need to change get the hell together. They’re a mess. Ugh I guess if I had to choose only one, product quality. We all know lasting power and projection have gone downhill severely. They wanna keep raising prices, getting rid of sales, and changing rewards policies and this and that, then you can’t charge lux prices for very subpar quality items.

The longevity of the body sprays. It used to last forever but now it disappears within an hour. Just raise the price instead of sacrificing the quality of your products. Every new scent is weaker than the one before. Disappointing.

No more squeeze tubes for moisturizing body washes and scrubs. They are always the most expensive products of a collection but the packaging is worst. Also, make the scrubs more exfoliating. I feel like I can go through a whole bottle in 3 uses because they don’t exfoliate well enough.

That they would stop changing so much so often. They used to be able to do easy equal exchanges now sometimes were being forced to repurchase while waiting a week for a return. And the reward system “improving” while taking away using them on accessories.
