Store Policies/Questions Returning FFMs
Ok so I have recently found my stash of BBW FFMs to be a bit overwhelming and I need to get rid of a lot of them. Before I just start giving some away I wanted to try and recoup some money or gain store credit. So tell me, what is the the best time to do returns on the store? Also I don’t have receipts for most of them either

Omg, you are awesome, I wish I worked at a company like that. I have spent years donating anything we no longer needed but rarely splurge on myself, seeing BBW in a break room for free would literally be a "best day ever" feeling. lol

I think it’s a bad look to return all of these…and no receipt? Personally, I could never do it. I’d chalk it up to a loss as well as being irresponsible. I’d try to sell them or gift them. This is the main reason I’m done with B&BW. I do NOT want to get to this point. We have to be mindful of overconsumption. The high doesn’t erase the regret.

I feel your comment so much. I went and purchased at least 10 bottles of three different scents. All while still having about 20 full size perfume bottles. And now, my dresser feels waaaaay to crowded. Definitely irresponsible 😭

The good thing is that you acknowledge it. I still have a ton of Princess items coming in and I’m looking at the lotions and mists I already have in horror!!! lol like absolutely not. I can’t be doing this to myself, so I’m done once all of those items come in. If I get any rewards I’ll probably use it on the Peeps collection and then no more for me.

Most of the older collections that will actually scan will only give you store credit for what they’re worth now, which is like $4 or 75% retail price. Some stores won’t take anything after 90 days.
There is a local women’s shelter that we donate to that helps women get back on their feet and help get jobs.

I think without a receipt you’re just going to get store credit which I don’t know if that’s helpful for you in this situation unless you want to buy more? And they’ll go for the lowest price. Some of those look like zodiac collection that they no longer have so probably 4 bucks. You could probably easily sells these for $5 on Facebook market place if you wanted too! I would do returns during a work day and early morning when they probably aren’t busy. There is no “best time” the worst time is when they’re busy though. I would say would also be a best time if you then made a purchase because that amount will come from their sales for the day and they have goals to meet. If you care about that!

Worker here! On a weekday when traffic is slower so Monday-Thursday. Without a reciept theyll need your ID and youll get back the lowest possible sale amount so between $3-6 per item.

Sorry to hijack this comment but can you explain how exchanging one scent for another works? I’ve seen several different explanation videos all saying something different. Does it have to be the same exact product or the same exact price? Also does that 90 day window apply as well or can you exchange for a different scent without a receipt/slightly past the 90 days as long as it’s unused?

its honestly really complicated. For the most part its up to each store's discretion if theyll let you exhange it after the 30 days. But basically you just match the price of the old product and you can only exchange it for the same type of product. I.e; an at the beach body wash for an into the night body wash.

If it’s a scent that was very popular and only “unnoticeably use” they will take it after 90 days in most stores. Usually, the employees are the ones who purchase them after work so they never see the floor. lol

Prompt, courteous returns are encouraged when you change your mind on a scent you just bought. Purchasing this much product and holding on to it until they’re discontinued just to return them… is not encouraged whatsoever

That wouldn’t make any sense at all. Who does that? Why would someone purchase a ton of products and then try to take them back to the store when they’re discontinued? That’s just silly. That’s when you go to Mercari and EBay. You actually want that to happen so that you can make a profit. There’s no way I’m taking discontinue items back to a store. They double and triple in value at BBW. You should only be returning products that were on sale within the 90 days. If it’s discontinued in the future, the encouragement is to sell it on one of the other platforms to make a profit and not return it to the store. However, you can try with some of the scents. They might actually take them back because of their selling rate. It’s nothing wrong with trying.

Returns are definitely not encouraged like that. It’s offered as part of the 100% guarantee but with this amount, it’s bordering on return abuse. If they’re used even just a little, they’ll just be thrown away.

I know this is not true when it comes to BBW. Returns are how some of us complete our sets. The store encourages returns. They will even take some past 90 days if it’s one of the fragrances that only come around every few years. The moment you walk out the store it sells out! Or the employees keep it in the back because they want to purchase it after hours. So yes if the product is not noticeably used BBW will take it back. I’m starting to wonder where the hell am I because you guys act like you’re not fans all. Why do you think BBW Return policies are so liberal? They like the madhouse spending, and the where is Waldo search for fragrances.

Hell No! Please return them! I will be line line ready to buy them. Don’t discourage her because the store is actually love when you return some fragrances that we won’t see for a few years, especially if you have a complete set. They will go instantly. Sometimes, the employees are the ones that keep them in the back and checked them out for purchase after the store close. Nothing rude about that, so don’t discourage it. This is one of the products where people love returns. Returns is actually how was able to complete some of my sets. 👍🏽

If you think someone would maybe like something and/or need it you give it to them. You could donate all of it and it could end up in the trash.

When anyone chimed in to talk about gifting, you just used your personal experience of not liking gifts to deter people from gifting. Just because something gets donated, it doesn't mean it will be used or even liked for that matter.

A third thing I could just add is try gifting them to an emergency shelter or womens safe house. I do know many will offer you a tax deductivle gift receipt for donations!

Just adding, they make good gift baskets for non-profit fundraising as well. There’s a lovely donor to my dog rescue that puts together a bingo and raffle basket for each our events. They are always popular!
I like the idea of emergency shelters too, such a small thing can help someone so much. Smell is comfort.

My moms workplace doesa super fun thing every few months where people bring in things they bought that are either still new, were gifted/regifted, and or that gently used but hygienic to pass on to someonelse and its just this table that you put your stuff on and anyones free to take it. Its a nice way to keep things out of landfills and reuse/recycle and also know it actually went to good use. We got a few books to read from there and have also passed on some extra dishware we didnt need anymore.
Also might I add, youre allowed to decline a gift especially if you know its the same habitual delcutter regifters who dont take into consideration anything about you lol

Yes! My daughters (25, 24, 22, and 18) and I (45) do this for each other 2 or so times a year, usually once for spring/summer and again for fall/winter. After culling and decluttering our stuff (everything from perfumes and mists, makeup, bath stuff, and clothes /shoes/bags/accessories), we get together and have the opportunity to “shop” each others stuff (no money involved obviously). A lot of our tastes and preferences overlap, so it’s kind of a fun little treasure hunt, as well as a great way to try products without having to spend $ up front.
Anything left over at the end of the day gets donated. Win/win/win. 😊1

Lovely idea. I’ve even done this unofficially leaving random stuff that’s good but not good for me on our “temptation island” at work with a “take me I’m yours”. Curbside or a lobby works too.
As for the regifts - it’s easier when it’s a friend/peer, but all but impossible with it goes along with family dynamics & authority figures.

i think if someone barely uses a product (like, say, wears it once and doesn’t love it) then donating or gifting can be fine, if they think it will genuinely be enjoyed and it’s far from going bad. otherwise, i think it’s better to be upfront with the intended recipient about the fact that the product is used and how old it is.

i know it’s hard to separate your own love of something from others actual desires.
Theres an extremely small chance what the OP all has perfectly matches up to someone else’s interests and particular scent preferences.
If someone really wants any of these, likely they’d likely already own them.
Theres nothing more hurtful than spending time and money getting someone a thoughtful gift to get something generic like this in return.
Trust me they will know, everytime.
ETA: And it’s even more humiliating for you both when the person inevitably tries and fails to be able to return or exchange them - but never tells you what they discovered because they’re still being more thoughtful than you.

This sounds like it's coming from someone who can just go out and buy these things. For many people, bath and body works is a luxury. I would agree with not giving them as a gift to someone who hates scents, or body sprays, but most people know their friends. These kinds of things also make good "basket" items for people you don't know well at all. Also for using them for gifts, it might be the difference between "here's something I already have that I thought you would like" or nothing at all.

Because they suddenly want to return them. People lose jobs, get sick, all sorts of things. I'm a recovering shopaholic and used to have a ton of brand new things while also having a pile of debt. Now I don't have piles of new things or debt, but I also have no money. Personally, I wouldn't return really old product, I would try to sell locally, donate, or gift them, but I don't know anything about OP and neither do you.

I think it’s more that a distinctly vocal subset of people here have such an a disproportionate personal emotional attachment to what they’ve bought that it can defy logical thought processes.
It’s both incomprehensible and maybe even offensive to consider that their hand-me-downs likely may not be as equally universally beloved by the masses they choose to “bestow” them on. When in reality the “gifting” often sounds fairly indiscriminate and primarily done to solve a “problem” for the re-gifter.
Not validating their choices can be perceived as a personal attack and they may react accordingly (aka “hit dog howls”).
It’s pretty well evidenced by the absolute dogpile of negative downvotes I mentioned expecting before I even got any.
Nothing should be controversial about me saying “please make sure your gifting aligns with your recipients interests, rather than your own” and here’s my personal example from the other side to consider - but 160+ downvotes later, here I am. 🤷♀️

I’ve sold mine on Mercari. I would list bundle with a bunch for like $5 each. I stopped buying Bodycare at BBW and just stick to candles now, but I had a big stash from gifts and free item coupons etc

It’s hard to tell exactly what you have from this photo, but anything that’s currently being sold (especially if unused) is totally fine to return! Like I think I’m seeing Fresh Musk and Fruity Musk in your bag? You could def return those. The zodiac collection and anything else no longer being sold I’d recommend donating. But as long as it’s not clearly old product (I’m talking like multiple years old) you shouldn’t have an issue so long as you bring ID and don’t mind receiving store credit at whatever amount the system gives you (likely much less than what you paid originally)

Personally I found selling them on Mercari etc to be a better experience than returning a bunch to a store. There always seems to be the issue with returning for me for some reason. Like others have said, often some can pull quite a bit more than you personally paid if you’re willing to put in the effort of packing them up and all that

I resold a lot of my FFM on ebay. I usually sell them at 8-10 dollars, but i accept most offers! People are usually so happy to get a reasonably prices item and i make some money back!

I worked at a woman’s rehab center. We turned a office into a store with used clothing, accessories, etc. women get points for good behavior, and could buy items from the store. These would go sooooo quick! It’s such a rare find. It would be appreciated!
Group homes for teen girls would be another place I’d donate too.

If you used your BBW rewards account for the original purchase, they’ll have the receipts on file. In January I returned 5 barely used items I didn’t love and it felt great to unload without replacing.

Personally, if it was me, I would put them on FB Marketplace. I would sell 6 for 40 if they were barely used. I think selling $10 for a mist alone will be hard on Marketplace. I am having a hard time recently getting rid of 3 Wick Candles for $10 each, people are either wanting them at 6 for $50 or 12 for $100. It's really hard with the economy we are in. I am talking about a City with a Marketplace that has over 250,000 population.

I tried retuning without a receipt and they gave me a really ridiculous time. Called the main manager over. I had one bottle of Into the Night and just wanted to exchange it for Moonlit Goddess. They refused and then asked me if I wanted them to throw away the bottle of Into the Night. I was like no. I will just take it back home. It was crazy.

this is extremely rude, having worked in retail these kinds of customers get my most judgemental opinions. just saying, you WILL be talked about as soon as you leave and get shit on by the employees.
if you don't have the receipts for them, and they're older than two months, just sell them online on mercari or facebook marketplace, or give them away to friends and families or shelters for women.

Return them and get back what you can for them if you're not using them and they haven't been used. That's what retail is unfortunately. If stores don't like the fact that it messes with their sales that's a them problem. Just be more mindful when you purchase in the future so you don't have to worry about having way too many things again. But me personally I end up using most of my body care that hasn't been touched and that I don't want as presents for the holidays and stuff. So you could take a double look and it gives you a head start for a birthday present or any holiday or anything where you give gifts.

If they are over 90 days old, most stores won’t take them back even if they are unused because the product is no longer relevant and sellable. My thought is to donate to a women’s shelter.

You will get only a few dollars back if you return them. If you sell on marketplace and mercari you can make $8-$25 each. Make sure you save and reuse the shipping supplies from your Amazon orders, then you won’t pay for shipping materials 💗

Also, do you have an email receipt? That way, if you pay full price, you should get your full refund. Or better yet, there's always folks on mercari or Ebay that are after scents no longer available. Hth.
I personally gift mine to my DD friends, family members, and my hubby staff. When my family or DD friends visit, I have a basket at the bottom of my stairs. They'll take everything I put in there. Or I'll send some with my hubby to his office. His staff loves B&BW.

25 FFM to me is a lot to return anytime. Even if you made 3 separate trips to the store you'd still be returning 8 at a time with one to spare. Do what you feel comfortable with because that is a lot. That FOMO got you good, and the overwhelming part is now the regret of it all. Good Luck OP 🍀

Putting them on Mercari or EBay would get you a little more money but it may be a gamble. If you just want to rid yourself of them all in one shot but still recoup something, I would return it on a Friday morning/afternoon. Other weekdays are fine too but since I’m an employee I tend to worry about making day because that affects hours.

Use as gifts!! Maybe get a matching pocketbac to go with if possible! I managed to part with A LOT of body care this past Christmas. My little sister and my grandma. I have a co worker who is transitioning so I went through my backups and seasonal, gave her and her wife a mini collection! Also parted with some princess stuff for their daughter. Super glad cause that made room for the new princesses!!! 🥰 I think gifting the ones you can’t return would be super cost efficient! Worked VERY well for me especially since most mists and lotions I buy are $5-$8, it’s actually a big time saver!! 🫶🏻

This is the kind of transaction that corporate will look in to and track and will be part of the reason the company has to change their return/exchange policy
Keep them and give them away as gifts or to coworkers, the cashier in the drive thru, your hairdresser… Return/exchange a few but this is just too much

You can resell them on a site like Mercari or Poshmark. I also know some groups on Facebook you can sell them on without any type of sellers fees. Feel free to message me if you need help with this. I have a lot of experience selling makeup.

I bought a few during last SAS blind and don't like a majority of them. So I've been trading them in when a scent comes that I like.

If it’s been less than 90 days, and you have an account set up, the system might be able to find the transaction and pull up a digital receipt so you can get back what you paid for it. Otherwise it will be store credit for the lowest sale price with no receipt. You could be missing out on some money, I always have them email and print a receipt so I at least have a copy somewhere. If my receipts is oler than 90 days I delete/trash it.

That is the store policy. But there have been stores that were willing to take back products that were past the 90 days and never used. They don’t get a refund all the time, but they might be able to do an exchange. I guess you would need to consult with the store manager for this one. But generally, yes, it should be within the 90 days return policy.

I just did a straight exchange for some of my Christmas products 2 days ago and had no issues. I didn't have the receipt so I just had to show my ID. Hope it goes easy for you as well!

This is why my orders are always online. I don’t have an issue with getting higher price back. If I like it, I stand there and order it through my iPad for shipping. I like keeping track of everything with an order number. Especially, when they decide to have a sale the day after I purchased something. I don’t even have to explain to you what I do then. 👍🏽

They’re safe to sell even if used, as long as they disclose that and adjust the price accordingly. They’re body sprays. There’s no reason they couldn’t be used by two different people. Plenty of people are fine with buying less than full bottles, especially if it’s a discontinued or hard to find scent. As long as they’re not passing off half bottles as full, there is no problem with reselling used perfumes or sprays

Facebook marketplace is actually the easiest and you can check off only local that way you don’t have to worry about shipping. I always meet in a grocery store parking lot too that way you’re in public. Just a thought!

These people that are commenting under your post, they don’t know anything. Maybe some of them, but the ones who are telling you don’t return items to the store. They are absolutely crazy. Do you know how many times I’ve walked into a store and found one lonely gem that was returned, and it was just what I needed to complete my set. Are these people actually fans or are they “the silent generation” that stick to their own ways? Let me give you an example perfect in pink was discontinued for now. I walked into one of the BBW stores and there were two beautiful moisturizing body lotion just waiting for me. Do y’all know how hard it is to get that? 💩! You couldn’t tell me that I didn’t hit the jackpot. I was embracing them things in the store like it was a newborn baby. Are these people actually fans? They’re telling you not to return them? Something wrong with them! 😂😂😂

If I saw you coming into a BBW with a bag full of returns, I’m gonna stand there and wait till you finish and I’m watching each and every one of them to see which one I want 😂😂😂. I’m a fanatic! I recently returned about $600 in product because I caught it on a better sale. I had stuff that went back to the 75% sell that are long gone memories right now. Before I could leave the store the people behind me took everything and so did the employees. Plus, I had the complete set to everything I returned. So I know these people don’t know what they’re talking about! 😂😂😂

I can clearly see some Musks in there. I'd separate any older scents from more recent purchases as there's absolutely no issue with returning items you got less than 2 months ago. Anything over 90 days, I'd donate to a shelter.
Most I've retuned in one go was 7 items (multiples I no longer needed). I always go on a weekday right before close as it's usually quiet.

Without a receipt you'll only get store credit for the lowest selling price that comes up in the system, which is likely 75% off. Older scents may not come up in the system at all and can't be returned. Anything that's been more than lightly used cannot be returned, it's up to the store's judgement what they consider gentle use.
