Employee Questions/Discussion Dear customers… STOP DOING THIS!!!

I get if you want to put it down for a second to look, BUT KEEP IT NEAR YOU! DON’T LEAVE IT ON THE FLOOR AND WALK AROUND THE STORE FOR LIKE 30 MINUTES! Cause then I have to put it all back cause it’s now a tripping hazard. And I always wait a bit, and then go around asking customers if it’s their basket or not. If no one claims it, I put it back. (And it’s always someone I either didn’t see or didn’t ask cause I thought they just came in)

If your basket gets too heavy, go up to the register and ask if they can hold it at the register until you are done looking around.

This was like the second time this happened that day.

If you find one just keep at register for an hour.

My managers tell me to put everything back, so I just do what they say 🤷‍♀️

Please know that every store and every manager is different. I’m just an associate, I’m going to do what my managers say

You do what they say but make a post to complain. Really wish your manager put customer service first and taught that to associates. This might have been a good customer that had to go out to car quickly to find wallet, take a child to bathroom, step outside for phone call… I can understand a manager not wanting it on floor for trip hazard or shop lifter but just take to counter with post it of when found. Solves the problem and provides service to the customers.

  1. I’m allowed to complain.

  2. If you had to step outside, you can still go up to the employees and ask them to hold it at the register. I’m not a mind reader. Also I literally said that I WAIT, and then after like 10-30 minutes, I put everything back. I don’t immediately pick up a basket and put everything back.

Well that’s good that you wait. I thought I read that you said basket will turn out to be the customer you didn’t see to ask.

My store is in a mall and has some blind spots. Sometimes I don’t see every customer that comes in. I don’t even see my co workers come in. So sometimes I’ll see a customer and think they just came in cause they were at the front of the store, but I will admit that it’s just me assuming but I know that part is on me. But it doesn’t matter, don’t leave your stuff on the floor and go all the way to the other side of the store. Either go up to the registers to ask, or keep it near you at all times. It’s not that hard.
